So I'm going to be talking about myself here. I got my monk to 70 and started doing the expert dungeons. I get to temple a few mins ago and I sucked HARD. 90% of the fail in this run was me being new and not knowing what was up. But that's on me and I'll practice to do better. The last fight tho was completely lag fest. I was pressing skills and nothing was going off. I hate myself for having that happened and must have said sorry a million times that whole run. Easily my worst experience yet in the game. Everyone in the party was awesome and put up with my not knowinginess and I love all of you that were in there. I swear to god that last fight was lag and I feel horrible. Also.. I hate the second boss.... so many reflects and crap. T.T I am not happy with my performance in there at all. T.T

There's gotta be something in the water. Was he tanking in Grit? Because it would have been stupid easy to pull off of him if he never turned on Grit because LOLTANKDPS. I just had a run with a Warrior who never left Deliverance, and after I managed to pull off of him without Diversion (it was always on cooldown) on the first two bosses, he gad the gall to call me bad.

1. Be BLM.
2. Queue for Expert Roulette to get dropped into Ala Mhigo.
3. Have the AST start feeding the RDM both single-target Arrows and Balances, while all you get are castoffs from Expanded cards.
4. Consistently do more DPS than the RDM (who has 1k more HP than you) throughout the entire run anyway.
5. Have the WAR pull everything from just after the first boss to the dogs in one giant pack.
6. Demolish that entire pack with BLM AoEs.
7. Lose rolls on everything to the RDM.
8. Deal with the WAR trying to troll you with Shirk.
9. Finish the entire dungeon in roughly 20 minutes.
10. Get no comms.
11. Don't be surprised when you find out they were all from Gilgamesh.

Not everyone from Greg is that way though. You can't lump a whole server just because a few assholes ruin it for you. It's like saying everyone from Balmung is into ERP which clearly isn't true. Every sever has their jerks.

Oh, I don't think the entire server is like that. I'm just not surprised when I run into assholes and they turn out to be from Gilgamesh or Balmung. Just like how I wasn't surprised when the world balancing initiatives turned my nice and quiet server into a cesspit of attention whores.

I shouldn't play when I'm tired and cranky!

So did a run of Castrum Abania earlier...

Tank DCs right before first boss, kick, get new tank a few minutes later. No biggie. Tank was brand new but everyone was fine with that.

First boss goes fine. I probably should have explained it before going in but I just got off working 10 days straight so I'm pretty tired. We get through the boss without any issues (still shocks me how much damage that boss does though).

Everything goes to poo on the second boss. It is the easiest boss in the dungeon, as long of people do the mechanics. Again I didn't think to explain the mechanics, but the PLD asked about the elements thing, and we explained it briefly... Well The SAM and I go to cover a tower and botht the PLD and NIN are right next to the third one. Since the PLD was very new, and didn't know the details of the fight I assumed if she didn't move the NIN would... nope. We get hit by the aoe.

Great.. I heal us up and we go back to DPSing.. and then the next set of towers pop up. SAM and I again move to two separate towers. NIN and PLD do not move. After we get hit again both me and the SAM as the NIN if they could take a tower. They complain and say "we don't need both DPS taking one"... Yeah, okay, but we didn't explain the situation to the newbie so like do your part? If no one is going to bother helping someone who doesn't know what they are doing don't except to not do the work. Is it really worth having high deeps if you're just going to get everyone killed?

Yeah, third set of towers pop and we wipe. SAM leaves due to lack of cooperation from the NIN. I don't blame them. I was thinking of leaving but I wanted my Cluster from being in need, and I felt bad for the tank. DPS are easily replaced anyway so it wasn't that big of a deal...

NIN complains that SAM left and that it was "only one wipe". Yeah I couldn't keep quiet "Yeah, a wipe that could have easily been avoided". They didn't reply to that, instead they complimented themselves for doing higher DPS than a higher ilvl SAM, on NIN. I again replied...
Me: Yeah you did higher DPS than the SAM who was doing mechanics. Go figure.
NIN: I outdpsed them on the first boss too

This is completely false. I had ACT up (had just redownloaded it and it was open from much earlier today) so I could see the numbers. Didn't argue with them though as it was pointless and didn't want to bring up that I had a parser running.

It was a weird and frustrating run. Just.. if you can do something why would you NOT do it? Why do you expect someone else to do it? I know we could have easily asked the PLD to take a tower, but it pissed me off that the NIN who knew the mechanics already refused to do them.


Also did a run of Sirensong Sea before that one. The tank was a dink. The BLM was brand new and the tank ran off and got killed because he wouldn't wait for her/me. I went back to the ship to show her how to get off it. He then refused to wait for me to reapply Protect to him (I switch to Protect when needed in dungeons) until we wiped because he stood in fire, while in Deliverance, after pulling two groups together.

I thought I share my absolute ridiculous story today, since normally us veterans or mentors get blamed, let me tell you how my leveling roulette went, with newly joined players and their attitude. I get tam tara, and you would think, that this should go very smoothly, in comparison to level 70 dungeons. Well I am very wrong thinking that. First 4 seconds into the dungeon, tanks hp drops to nearly 0, and I pop one heal. Now of course every mob flies at me, because tank (war) in that case, didn't use overpower/flash or even bothered hitting the other mobs. No problem, it's a low level dungeon, who cares if I am tanking, it's not going to kill me.

Right after, tank starts complaining, saying I shouldn't hit the mobs, yet I haven't even done that since well I was trying to explain the basics of tanking to him. Next pull same thing, now I am thinking to myself, screw it I will just tank but at least I can dps while at it. Again tank starts mouthing off, saying I shouldn't heal or dps, and wait for him to gain hate/aggro. I'm thinking to myself, having played tank prior and know low lvl dungeons, maybe he just takes a bit more time than others would. So I didn't say nothing and like a good healer, stood there and waited, since clearly the tank was already in argument mode.

So we make it to the first boss, tank starts with telling me that they are from wow, and fully geared etc. I didn't say nothing, because since when does that work in ffxiv? lol During the pulls I noticed the little dps, constantly running to get the chests, despite the fact that we didn't clear these rooms. Twice I had to run back and raise the dps, and told him to follow, but being ignored. We finally made it to the last boss, by that time I was already done, a dungeon that isn't difficult and shouldn't take over 25 minutes, having to read all these arguments in the chat, made me want to slap somebody.

Tank is watching cutscene and so does the dps, all the sudden, that little dps gets out of the cut scene, jumps down. I said don't move or we will start the boss. Just like the last final battle when you reach lvl 70, someone saying don't move, apparently means run around. Sure enough, dps pulls the boss and I thought to myself, let's just keep them alive so I can get the hell out of this roulette.

Tank now complains, calling me any word out of the book, ending his sentence with thanks for waiting you stupid C.... I told him, listen I wasn't the one pulling the boss. We wipe of course, because dps doesn't do enough dmg, don't focus on tail, and I can't get dps or heals our because I am holding like 6 adds, the boss and the tail to the same time lol. Im about to kick the dps, remember the one that irked me already, throughout the whole run. Now tank once again starts arguing with me and vote kick was dismissed.

I said to the tank, please can you pull, I would like to get out of here. Tanks starts saying oh this dumb healer has fxxxxx more important stuff to do, get a job you wuss etc. I ignore it because there's no reason to even make it worse, even tho I could have sat his butt down right here and there, but it would have been pointless.

We finally pull a 2nd time, again I am tanking/dpsing and healing, keeping myself alive, tank says heal me while standing in every pod and aoe there is. We finally beat it, yes it felt like doing savage content lol, tank keeps insulting me.

Before I then left, I told him, if he plans on getting to lvl 70 or lvl 25 in that case, it would be better not to make more healers mad down the line, and that his WoW experience does nothing for him in FFXIV. Left the dungeon and blacklisted both of them. Sure I could have filed a report but c'mon I was happy to be done with that tonight.

If that's nowadays the new attitude of new players, we are looking at a very bright future, might as well go play f2p, at least some of these have nicer people in there, then I find lately in lower or mid level dungeons.

I think no matter what people say going forward, I'm going to post how-to guides before bosses regardless of the instance involved. Had a rather terrible Lakshimi today where half the people were new, as was I but only in the sense that it was my alt doing it, and it was a near unmitigated disaster for a good chunk of the run.

- New tank cleaved the other healer and I with the adds, killing us within the first few seconds of the first pull.
- DPS ran off the sides with the markers on the second pull due to lack of understanding of how the mechanic worked and panic flailing.
- People not understanding vril no matter how many times they watched others doing it, leading to even more knock offs...
- One DPS in particular didn't get any of the mechanics in spite of the fact that the fight too 10x longer than it should have, causing everything Lakshimi had to be shown at LEAST four times if not more. Which, hey, she doesn't have an enrage mechanic so that's nice.
- I'm also pretty sure one of the DPS refused my raise at one point on mistake, because they accepted it later from the other healer...

All in all it just reminded me very clearly that I can't expect people to just understand mechanics without being told and that what I find very intuitive might be moon speak to others. To the DPS involved I'm very sorry for not explaining at the beginning, instead resorting to telling you how to do the mechanics WHILE they were happening after it was apparent that it didn't make sense to some of you. That was my bad and I hope you can forgive me for it.

That's just.. wow I have no words, you were a lot nicer and patient than I would have been, that's for sure, and I would have bailed asap *big hugs*
