Chocobo Companion levelling speed: Is it fine as it is?

I've been playing for months and my chocobo is level 7. I agree the leveling speed needs a bit of a boost. I'm not rich so I don't have access to luxuries like a chocobo stable. I have at most 1 million gil at any given time.

Got mine to rank 20 after I had enough onions pretty easily. Leveled up alt classes in fates when they allowed us to break Rank 10 for chocobo, and coupled with training while in the stabled and the challange log EXP, it's really easy to rank up the Chocobo.

Not to mention you can put in 2 krakka root per hour to a chocobo, one by you and one by a friend. Chocobo EXP is fine as it is. Krakka roots are pretty cheap on the MB, as well as people having access to an apartment stable at the very least, with the possibility of making sure you join an FC that has a stable.

According to your profile you're part of a free company that has housing. Did they not put a chocobo stable on their plot? If you happen to have/get an apartment you also have access to a chocobo stable.

I think the challenge log should be buffed to 10% 20% for 30% each week instead of 15%.

It takes a very long time to reach rank 20. Too long.

Tips for leveling your chocobo:
Always have them out while doing things: Hunt marks, fates, sidequests.
Weekly challenge log is awesome too.
if you have access to a stable (as was mentioned before, there are stables at the apartments):
Train your chocobo with Curiel roots for a while and they'll become their favorite food, after that you can summon them with the curiel roots and they'll get an XP boost per kill .

There should be an interactive sign post on the right side of the stable that lets you stable your chocobo, then you can go through the menu to deal with your chocobo specifically, train it and then immediately take it back out. You can train it once per hour. Note that feeding is for color changing and will not garner any experience for your chocobo (feeding/color changing will require the chocobo to stay in the stables for about 6 hours).
