I thought it was pretty telling when he said that there was a huge difference between people who buy extra retainers and those who don't. Does that mean they think people who don't buy extra retainers have no need for better storage options? They are using data that thinks them look good when in reality it makes them look greedy. Of course not many people have 8 retainers full of stuff, it's prohibitively expensive. The entire point is disingenuous.

Yeah. I don't rent (let's use the proper word!) ANY extra retainers, not because I don't need them, but because I find the concept abhorrent in a subscription-based MMO. Heck, I wouldn't partake of it in a free-to-play MMO.

That was my exact thought when reading that from the live letter. Are they greedy or out of touch? Seems that they care more about the money the minority use on PAID Retainers more than everyone else. They have even stated that increasing retainer space was much easier than character's and they could solve SO much using retainers. 1. Increase retainer space instead of character inventory. 2. Allow crafting while retainer inventories are open. Boom! Just solved a big chunk of glamour and crafting related inventory issues. Not all, but this is significant low hanging fruit.

I'm pretty sure he understands fully that people who don't, don't because they can't and aren't willing to and people who do rent them probably have as many as they can.

I mean, they aren't stupid.

And? In the end SE is a business with every right and valid reason to force a captive audience into buying more.

If you wanna go there, it's actually a crime to not do what's within your power towards increasing profits for your shareholders.
There is however the question of whether you want profit in the long run or just a quick cashgrab, which in turn would actually probably make your company look like crap and devalue it.


Anyway, on to my opinion: I don't think Yoshi meant anything other than having a catalog of collected glamours, much like WoW's transmog log.
I cannot think of committing resources to anything else that you could interpret his statement as as having any sense.
