You're all going to change your tune once you'll be able to reach tenacity levels that give you a "free" tank stance (or nearly 20%)

I think that's what he's worried about, when we're in ilvl 450 gear and have 3000 of it naturally, still wouldn't give us a reason to meld it though!

Tenacity is better than dh as is. You gain 80% of the dos benefit while taking less damage. Less damage means more healer dps. It's overall a greater dps gain than dh.

As for melding, the reason it seems useless is because melding for anything is useless. Dh gives pitiful amounts from melds as well.

Ten scales no worse than dh. It might scale much better depending on how the damage reduction works.

EVERY offstat in this game has diminishing returns and the scaling is different at every level. for example back in 2.x days in 2.5 gear you could get to about a 60% ish or so parry rate, but the gear at lvl 60 on 3.0 release dropped that to about 20% again and was only possible again with 3.5 gear with the proper melds, the most i ever see tenacity giving us is around the 9%-10% kinda area and even then by that point all the other offstats will still give more damage per stat.

To me it seems that with current gear and melds the max amount of Tenacity we can have is a 3-5% boost/ mitigation making it almost as effective a half a rampart with 100% up time. It it really shows its weight as it scales, and presuming we continue to be able to add significant amounts via melding, it could be interesting. Numerically though, they have to be careful of how it scales so that it doesn't become pointless to stack in future, or ultimately over powerful.

You can get 5% right now with barely any melding at all. Around 1500 tenacity you'll be right at 5%. Easily attainable just through gear.

As for DH ... it's the best scaling stat for every non healer right now. While tanks won't be seeing higher numbers there, it is still the best stat to take. We get enough Crit, Det, and (lol) Skill Speed from gear. And yes any tank going full skill speed, and I have seen some, is laughable.

Tenacity is 180-220 per 1% damage increase and mitigation, unless more was found out, wearing full fending gear gives you a 5% right off the bat. An additional 520 tenacity is like 2% increase.

Actually the "20% damage reduction" they're describing would hypothetically take around 4000 Tenacity. Since roughly 200 Tenacity = 1% damage reduction. Of course that would only be possible to attain if Tenacity doesn't have diminishing returns at higher values similar to Determination. But since there's no data on just how much Tenacity gives out upon attaining extremely high amounts yet it's impossible to tell what the potential returns will be like for sure.
