I missed the following...
1. Job changing during dungeons - Feel it made FFXIV unique.
2. Dungeon Speed Runs - Yes, it promotes Elitism but it is also fun as hell to squeeze every bit of speed out of a dungeon.
3. Ifrit Extreme - More random moves made it clearing a run actually a somewhat luck dependent and truly challenging...
4. White Raven fight - The arena was beautiful and not flat.
5. Resistances and elements actually meant something.
6. Open world leveling. Yes, it does get boring if you do it a lot, but another option is always good.
7. "Global" community on each server.
