Nah, I'd never expect FF7's Masamune. I cannot say which one if any though since I don't think it ever had a set look throughout the series. For all we know it could be an entirely new model! If you're referring specifically to the FFVII version, then no. That isn't even a Katana, it's an Odachi (pretty much, Japanese Great Sword). Be more of a DRK thing.
Given the propensity in Final Fantasy to recycle names/themes, I really see no reason to not include an iconic weapon such as Masamune (and the Muramasa while we're in that neighborhood).
Guildmaster of Power With Numbers (PWN) on Coeurl in Aether.

Final form of relic for sure
If we do see it, I'm expecting (and hoping) that it'll be a DRK weapon; the category of weapon the Masamune belongs to (At least, the most iconic form everyone remembers) is, strictly speaking a far eastern greatsword. It's too big and unwieldy for Iaijutsu techniques, which emphasize speed and precision.
In practice though the Masamune has been depicted in a variety of forms across multiple FF games; even appearing as a double-ended weapon in FF9. There's no reason it could not come back as a PLD gladius this time![]()

You'll get it alright. Only problem with it is that every time you use it it cuts you as well dealing 1hp per swing.

Its FFX appearance would also fit as a DRK weapon. If we do see it, I'm expecting (and hoping) that it'll be a DRK weapon; the category of weapon the Masamune belongs to (At least, the most iconic form everyone remembers) is, strictly speaking a far eastern greatsword.
