    Worth it to start crafting?

So, I just hit level 50 and finished up 2.0. I was thinking about taking up crafting for a bit as a change of pace and was wondering. Is it worth it to start now and level to 50 before tackling HW and SB content or should I just wait till I get to current end game and grind it all the way to 70?

Just finish all the story content and unlock everything before focusing on other things like crafting, if you just finished 2.0 then you still have a loooong way to go. All the expansive and worthwhile items are the new stormblood items.

Well, if Tethrial has only just finished 2.0, then he's so far from Storm Blood that he should not rush anything. The "worthwhile items" you mentioned probably won't be worthwhile at all by the time he reaches Storm Blood anyway. Tethrial seems to want a change of pace. So, instead of keep grinding levels on battle classes and dungeons, crafting could be a nice little minigame to pick up on.

It's never too late to start crafting. I know lots of people who starts level 1 only recently. You do have to know that the crafting game can go really really deep. But only until you dive in, you will never know how deep the rabbit hole goes.

A big part of crafting in A Realm Reborn was about collecting cross class skills from different classes, and then combine them to form combos in crafting rotations. So be prepared to grind many different classes, and not just a single crafting class. The first thing to do, would be to pick up ALL the DoH and DoL classes, and level them all together, at least until you have achieved All-lvl 15 status. All DoH classes give cross class skills at 15. So once you have gotten All-15, you'll have more skills to form combos and mess around with.

Anyway, if you don't like it after trying it, you can always stop and back out. So it never hurts to try.

That's a bit too far, too soon... He should probably first think about all-15... I don't think he needs to think about taking any class to 60 yet.

Always a good time to start crafting! I would suggest leveling up mining and botany first though. Just makes it easier to acquire mats and you'll save a lot of money in the process

Thanks for the responses all. I like playing at a more leisurely pace and don't plan on rushing my way to 70. I've read some guides and watched some YouTube videos on crafting and it sounds like a pretty fun break from questing and roulettes.

If it sounds fun do it. One of the strengths of this game is that you can try one thing but not get locked in to doing it forever. If you like it, you can take it as far as youre willing to go. If you end up not liking it its still possible youll find one of the gathering classes relaxing and stick with that. Ive met people who log in primarily to fish, and sometimes do world-saving stuff. But mostly just want to fish.
