I don't understand this Duty Finder drama and unwillingness of tanks to run DF as a result. I've tanked with my PLD in ARR now returning to SB in duty finder almost exclusively and never have any trouble/drama.

I mean makes sense since usually tanking in DF feels more like a job than a fun time to me. Much prefer running with my FC or friends and make them enjoy the nonexistence of queue times.

I only usually do the trial roulette, but now with the new tomes I'm obviously doing at least the 50/60 one. Maybe something else if a friend wants me to help them past queues.
Overall there is a shortage of tanks. Especially with most running with their friends since they are the first ones to ask for help with the queues.

Because, why tank for DF and risk an issue, when you can hand pick three good players from your FC and destroy it whenever you want???
Ding-Ding! When you mess up among friends, people laugh. When you mess up among strangers, people point fingers and scream. Why go for the stressful situation, when Free Company and friend list buddies are the better option ten times out of ten?
Duty Finder is an option, but it's not the option. It's become a crutch for antisocial players and for players who refuse to try new things like, oh, I dunno, leveling a tank or healing job.

I just got through a dungeon on my alt where I wanted to choke my dps to death because then they'd be doing more than what they did in the dungeon. And this is repeating. I even am contemplating doing Palace, the content I HATE grinding in, because people in that have at least enough brain cells to function.
When your tanks get distrustful, they stop to queue. When I get my alt up with Palace, I'm only running dungeons with it if I get friends, or if I get paid. My own sanity isn't worth this anymore.
Edit: I may be venting frustration with my threatening statement at the start. Please don't look down on me for it. It's getting really annoying really fast and I don't want to give a rando a queue anymore.

i only DF with my tank on Trial
the more i browse FFXIV forum, the less i want to DF my tank in dungeon
I simply dislike the "tank is merely a tankier DPS" concept from communities

I must say, I must be the luckiest guy in the world to avoid having this drama. Then again, a 30 minute penalty doesn't bother me (I see it as a chance to cool myself off from the stress) so I can usually shut up the DPS by saying to them they can find a new tank if they don't like my pace. That being said, if they're saying "You could probably handle more" then unless it's my first time, I'm usually willing to do it.
However, the more I'm reading of this, the more I'm being put off tanking for DF. I just worry I get one of those really bad eggs that pushes all my buttons and causes me to unleash a rage that gets me banned (I'm not good at handling frustration atm, that being said I am currently on a CBT course for managing stress and frustration)
White Mage ~ Scholar ~ PaladinBoi if you got kicked for the same thing in over 20 duties I strongly suggest you think hard on whatever the hell it is you're doing
As I'm sure you are well aware, it takes more than one person to be able to kick a player from a duty, so in all those instances there were at least two people agreeing they'd be better off without you tanking.
I can't be fooked with tanking much these days. Everyone seems to wanna run the show on how I pull. I will never forget when I ran that first dungeon Dusk vigil and my 'friend' came with to help me conquer my fear, only for him and the other DPS mobbing up everything and making me tank it.
it was my first run there so I felt scared. after I run something once or twice and get the feel of the dungeon I'm ok.
needless to say, i left and never talked to his ass again. if you wanna tank and mob up everything, then you go tank. don't get pissy at us. ppl already don't wanna tank others make us regret doing so.

Yup, what OP says is true. My FC has a ton of tanks..in fact almost every person in it has tank leveled and geared but just like OP - they only play their tanks with fellow FC members. Too much toxic junk in the DF vs playing with friends and having fun.
