You must actually enter the house once every 45 days or it will be demolished.

I think that's about it?
Make sure you understand how the housing system works. ( if you don't enter your home you can lose it )Rules expectations, access, ect. Will it be a FC home or personal use. FC gets certain privileges I am a one man FC just because I wanted the perks.
Make sure you have the money to build a house on the plot as well, as you're given I think 2 weeks max to build a house on the land before it is relinquished automatically.
Consider furnishing limits, particularly for outside, carefully; it's a lot easier indoors now but outdoor limit was not raised.
Furniture can be really expensive so if you don't craft but have friends that do, I would suggest asking for their help in getting your place decorated.
You can have tenants to share your house, and assign them permissions. If you give them permission to move furniture around, make sure you trust them, as they can most certainly steal items from you.
And most importantly, don't just get your house and ignore it! A lot of people would love to have a house, but it's a shame that so many get bought and then go unused beyond just resetting the demolition timer.
In regards to that, it's 45 days without entering, and it's demolished. It has to be YOU, the owner, not a tenant. You can check the status of your demolition timer under Estate in the timers tab, but they will also send you emails, and lots of them, if you are at risk of it being demolished.
Very good point. Make sure you have enough for the construction permit too. I believe it's 450k for cottage, 1m for house, and 3m for mansion. Make sure you check the market board first, you might be able to find a cheaper option, but remember you can only use glade for Grid, Rivera for Limsa, and Oasis for Ul'dah.
I think that's probably true for the permits but once the house is built you can change it to any of the various walls. There's a glade house in my Mist neighborhood, it's quite weird looking.Very good point. Make sure you have enough for the construction permit too. Red text I got when I tried to put a glade roof on my oasis house. Still not possible. Someone in your Mist neighbourhood must have a moogle skin or something. It's not glade.
Hm. I suppose you're right - when I checked the plot, it was a merchant's wall which is different than what it was before; I most certainly didn't mistake that for a glade house, but I'm also well-aware that the Moogle house isn't Glade. I ended up just buying a roof and wall myself and attempting to swap it out, since I assumed it was just not letting you combine styles, but it didn't work. So -shrug- my mistake! I just remember seeing one that stuck out like a sore thumb because it was so weird and even messaging my FC about it on discord.

Yeah anything that's not white stone looks a bit weird in the mist. I'd like it if I could take the special skins off my house without losing them though. My fc currently has the paissa mansion skin.
The rate at which you lose things you choose to replace in your house is quite odd. I mean, I'm pretty sure in real life when we tear buildings down we've figured out how to preserve most of the materials.
