Well, considering that's absolutely what you should be doing if you can...You sound abit offended with what I'm saying, and It seems like you're using a somewhat weak argument to frame this by. There's no such thing as "snipping" a heal, you're a healer first and a dps second. Going by your logic, why don't I just keep the party topped off and bring and extra dps, a Rdm/Smn can easily bring me a backup res. and contribute to group wide dps more than a White Mage can.
Your misunderstanding, the objective is to find something to do other than standing around waiting for damage, especially with how scripted the phases are in these fights. Some fights have barely any healing in them honestly. Personally I weave dps and healing to keep myself busy, sometimes I heal less because the other healer is busy overhealing everyone, whatever good that does.You sound abit offended with what I'm saying, and It seems like you're using a somewhat weak argument to frame this by. I take offense to what's being described in the OP mostly because "main heal/off heal" has already been proven to be stupidly ineffectual compared to both healers healing AND doing damage at the same time. Our healer kits are ludicrously powerful to the point of being broken - if you're doing the bulk of the healing while your cohealer is spamming DPS you'd be better of just solo healing and bringing an actual DPS instead.
I acknowledge that in a DF environment you're kinda boned, but if it's any kind of pre-formed group you should let them know that you'd get more mileage out of the fight if your cohealer actually throws some heals now and again.
Not saying they aren't important, but Esuna isn't required or useful on any fight outside of Exdeath. Protect is only worth keeping if you expect people to die during the fight, otherwise you can just switch it out before the fight begins.
Bad healers are bad healers.
This is exactly what my group is doing for the current content. There simply is not enough to do for two healers most of the time.
And I still use Cleric Stance because it has some use compared to Esuna/Protect.

Kels pls Ily

@MrSmiley
This isn't what I'm having an issue with, I'd prefer this. The problem I'm having is the healer who refuses to heal, that only dpses. I think you might be mistunderstanding me a bit because I would definitely prefer a healer like you that heals AND dpses, but I've been getting stuck with healers who will barely touch a healing skill. They see someone with 2k hp and let them die, and I see this as an issue because they would rather dps than toss out a heal. If it's the other way around and I'm handling this fight more than adequately, or to the point I don't need your help (which is almost possible in all content right now, excluding the upcoming savage) and there are no mechanics that require 2 healers. With that you're just negating the need for another healer, which I don't think will be beneficial to the all healers in the long run.

I'm an AST with Clerics lol.
In all honesty, I just ignore everyone in PF, I say thank you as a courtesy when the farm is over or when I've had my fill and leave, that's it. Even if the other healer is lazy or runs around like a headless chicken, doesn't precast or shield aoes etc - it is so much more enjoyable to me to simply not care (as long as the boss is dead after the pull) and be a stress-free AST in my own little bubble (no pun intended)

You have some shitty co-healers. Healers are healers first and dps second. We support each other in both cases. We're both responsible for keeping the party going.

Be careful not to enable them.
If your co-healer seems you are handling things fine then they might feel its agreeable to DPS more.
I know this won't always be the circumstance, but you might not realise it when it happens.
I just started leveling WHM (almost 62 now) today and I have Cleric. I swapped Eye for an Eye out for that. I also have Swiftcast, Largesse, Lucid and Esuna (casting Protect at beginning of dungeon, then swapping it for Esuna). I pair Cleric with PoM for Stone / Holy spam. I don't know what would be more useful to have?
