I'm having a hard time choosing a DPS job "main"

    Hi there,

I've recently come back to the game, and found myself with the same problem I got when I first quit playing. I'm pretty clear that I like SCH and WAR/DRK as healer and tanks, but I'm having a hard time finding a DPS job that I would love to start Stormblood with.

Started as a DRG in Heavensward, I'm pleased with SAM now that I've taken it to 60, and have some interest in MNK/NIN.

I'm not aiming yet to raiding, or doing some hardcore end game, just thinking about the leveling and enjoying the new expansion.

If anyone more experienced than me could spare some insight and tips, it would be awesome.

    Thanks in advance!

Well it sounds like SAM tickles your fancy, why not give it a go as your main unless your feelings change at 70?

I'll give it a go with the SAM, Stormblood looks like is asking for a samurai character, after all!

I love SAM's power. However, that power came with the burden of becoming "meh". I guess it's because I'm only Lv62, but doing the same things in sequence makes the job less and less dynamic.

No positionals, long dot time, high potency attacks, no group utility. This isn't a bad thing, but as I stated, doesn't make it as dynamic as my Lv67 NIN.

Samurai actually has positional bonuses. You get extra kenki for proforming them.

So samurai have positions depending on how kenki they want to get?

I'll let myself out of the thread now....

Samurai explodes in DPS at 62. You get positionals at 62 and your second best button. Use it and abuse it. The game does a very, very poor job of stating you get positionals then, but read your tooltips again.
