I can't reset it before going into a dungeon because I don't know if I'm going to get a 1-49, 51-59, or a 60+ dungeon ahead of time. So, my only option is to try to reset before the end boss, and sometimes if I don't do it right away, I end up forgetting and I end up going home without a sticker.
I handle this a little differently. Everytime I finish a dungeon I use points to clear the top row. I've never had to use all my points to do it. Occaisionally it will select a top row one but it would take seriously bad RNG for it to happen more than once. So when I do the next roulette I don't have to worry about it and most of the time I get my points back.

DRK started dropping really fast, so I inspected his gear -- no problems there. I only realised into the second pull that he wasn't using Grit. I don't have a problem with this, but I was running low on MP, even after using Lucid Dream and extending it with Celestial Opposition.

So I asked him to put up Grit, and the following occurred:

    Link

DRK is blue, BRD is red, and RDM is purple.

He threatened to shirk us for my request, and actually shirked the RDM later on. During the first boss, he moved to stand in both bomb AoEs dropped by the Harakiri adds, apparently planning to kill himself. The vote kick went through after the encounter ended, with no deaths, amazingly. We got another tank shortly after, and the run went fine.

I don't think I was being rude, but this guy responded to me like I had told him he was a scrub. His friend (BRD) later commented that he wanted the BRD to document the conversation, because he thought the dismissal was unfair. I don't know. I consider threats of shirking, and intentional play sabotage, to be worthy of a kick.

He said he wouldn't tell us how to do our jobs, but told me and the RDM what to do. :P
Sounds exactly how one tank(PLD) reacted when I did a leveling rou months ago with a FC member(we were a DPS and healer). Tank ONLY used Provoke to initiate a pull. No Shield Lob, and only 1 flash no matter how large the pull. Right before second boss of Aery is when we asked why he preferred using Provoke over anything else to pull...he promptly blew up on us(it was an honest question of why he prefers one over the other!), and refused to step into the arena and fight the second boss. The 4th person was their friend...I initiated a kick, and the tank got kicked, friend apologised for the tank and finished the dungeon with us having no more issues.

I've had fun runs where tanks do things unconventionally. We've all had tanks who can switch off tank stance and keep mitigation and aggro. And I even had one tank in Aurum Vale who decided to clear the first boss without removing her stacks. Nobody died, and she was really excited because it was something she'd always wanted to try. (Thankfully, she didn't try it on the last boss.)

It's when people overreact in the face of simple requests that their play becomes an issue.

(Edited in full version, wanted to get a basic idea through first)

I was healing a leveling roulette last night in Aurum Vale, while my girlfriend was tanking it. Our DPS, a SMN and a LNC (yes, a *level-synced* LNC, not a DRG) could not understand the boss mechanics for any of the bosses. Only one of them was a new player (the LNC).

Upon arriving at the first boss (Locksmith), I said "Alright, when you hit two stacks of Gold Lung, eat one of the Morbol Fruit. Pay attention to your debuffs." So, natually, both DPS run in and immediately eat two fruit, and continued to eat fruit randomly, and then would try and get to the tank's and my fruit. I tried to correct them multiple times but they decided that they REALLY needed to eat all the Morbol Fruit. Thanks to a level 1 healer LB, I managed to keep us up to win the fight.

The second boss (Coincounter) was just as bad. Upon entering, I said "Okay, don't worry about the ranged attacks, I'll heal you. But do *not* be close to him while he's channeling 100-Tonze Swing or you'll most likely die. Keep an eye on its channel gauge." So the tank used her stun to cancel out one of the boss' skills and he went into a 100-Tonze Swing channel. The SMN was, for some reason, close to the boss. The LNC was basically up his butt, as LNC/DRGs do. So he does the swing and nails them both, murdering them. I told them to keep an eye on what skill he's casting and res'd the SMN, and then the LNC. Boss goes into 100-Tonze Swing again, and the exact same thing happened. I was getting rather impatient at this point.

The end boss (Miser's Mistress)... I said "Eat the fruit this time when you have around 3 stacks of Burr Burrow, or it'll do stacking damage every time you get hit with it." So the LNC decides to eat a fruit before the fight begins and charges in after the tank grabbed the boss. Both DPS let it build up and died, leading to a wipe. So I repeated myself before the second round. LNC says "okay, got it", and then eats a fruit before the fight begins. I tell him that he needs to wait until around 3 stacks to eat the fruit, and he gives me another "got it." Fast forward a bit. The SMN has it under control. The LNC has SEVEN. FRIGGIN'. STACKS. And then he dies from the eighth. And he started complaining about how he ate the fruit when he came in and that I was a trash healer for letting him and the SMN die so many times.

I hadn't gotten thrown into Aurum Vale in a long time, and I'm hoping that it goes into hibernation for a few months again, because the poisons and goldbile pools are not the problem. I'm pretty sure there's stupid-gas floating around in there too.

Not a tale of the duty finder, but a funny one from open world content instead

I was flying around Western Coerthas trying to pop Kaiser Behemoth the other day when I came upon Mirka. He was being duoed by a lvl 70 MCH and a lvl 60 BLM. So I landed, dismounted, and settled in to watch without joining in. Predictably, it didn't go very well for the duo and they both died inside of 15 seconds of my arrival. The MCH immediately homeported and I had assumed that the BLM did as well. And so, I targeted Mirka and hit my hunt macro, alerting all my hunt ls as well as an inzone shout that Mirka was up at X,Y coordinates. Immediately shouts for party invite were seen, and I got a blind invite despite not having shouted for an invite. I figured what the hell and accepted. People arrived and we killed the mob without issue when I noticed the party leader asking for a raise. We had a healer in party who immediately raised him. Then he went on a tirade on how he made the party and didn't get any credit cause no one would raise him and how unfair it was to him. I took a closer look at his name and realized it was the SAME BLM who had tried duoing it minutes earlier! I guess he never homepointed and no one bothered raising him prior to pull. Man was he angry he got no credit when all those other people did. I call it poetic justice, he was perfectly happy to duo that A rank without a word to anyone so that no one else would get credit, and instead he got nothing while 30-40 other people got full credit lol

Medica II is generally a waste of MP and a GCD. In Sohm Al the WHM should have been using Regen and Asylum. Not Medica II. Not only that, if she was new why was the tank doing big pulls? That's incredibly inconsiderate. Even as a fairly experienced WHM I hate the big pulls there.

well, thats funny. I play whm all the time and especially because the HW levelling dungeons DO have harder hitting mob it makes perfect sense to me to use medica II there.

I agree on experts where you didnt necessarily need it because divine seal + regen was enough. but on new SB dungeons as well as general lvling dungeons 51+ I disagree completely.
makes me wonder though why you hate the big pulls there? I think theyre easy and can handle them just fine while dpsing.

So what if theres overheal on the other 3 party members? You all sound like that one skill that can be put up right at the start makes or breaks your MP completely which is not true.
I try to get my tank covered in heals so I can dps more and it has worked perfectly fine. Again, just to make sure I'll mention it again: HW experts etc dont need it.
But big pulls on levelling dungeons in SB and HW can use any extra healing. And I do use Asylum too but it may not always be available,so thats not always viable.

I find that when I do healing, on trash I tend to stick with Regen and single-target heals unless I have at least 3 people missing health. Sometimes 2 if both are missing a decent amount and I feel that they are both in danger RIGHT NOW.

With the high 40s and low 50s, I can't think of any dungeon that has dangerous enough mobs that I feel I need Medica II on trash to be quite honest. And once you get Lv56+ you got Assize (I think Assize is 56? been awhile since I got stuck in the mid 50s as healer, I keep getting Dzemael Darkhold for some dumb reason), if you did need a quick multi-heal, well there you go.

Asylum... I don't use it all that often. I have it on my hotbar, and it is ready for those really big moments, but on trash? Nah. Rarely. It requires people to stay in a tiny area, and a lot of trash have big AoEs that make it difficult to really get the most out of it due to people running out of its AoE to avoid mobs' AoEs. You really need to be picky and choosy as to where and when you lay it down because its long cooldown means you might not get another for awhile and hopefully you won't end up needing it when you do.

As for "OH CRAP!" moments that need powerful AoE heals? That's what Largesse+Medica 1 is for. And then while Largesse is still up, if you have either dumb dps or just AoEs flying around in general that people are getting hit with, throw a few Regens while Largesse is still up. Largesse+Regen = Regen+Medica II but for quite a bit less MP. And the Regens are instant-cast at that. You can cast 2 maybe almost 3 in the time it takes you to cast one Medica II and you can move while casting the Regens, while you can't the Medica II.

But don't take this as me saying Medica II is a bad spell, I just don't feel there's much use for it on Trash Pulls, or at least I haven't seen any up to Lv67 content yet where I'd want/need it.

I suppose it is a personal playstyle choice, though.

Just my 2 cents on the Medica 2 debate - I wait and see if DPS are taking damage. If at least one is I pop it, never for just the tank though.

That aside I got to eat some tankbusters in Shisui the other day. The Kamakiri actually hits pretty hard if you leave it alive and since everyone was taking puddle damage I used Medica 2 and it aggro'd on me. The tank and DPS were all burning the leg and then hitting the boss during his vuln up phase and I thought I could kill Kamakiri by myself. Then it knocked me from 20k down to around 6 so I popped tetra. Before the DPS came over and helped (I think cause I was just exploding with all my oGCD's and cooldowns including Bene, probably overkill but I was scared as I hadn't had anything even look at me so far that run) I couldn't even hit the damn thing.

We all had a good laugh about it after, the DRK said "apparently everything looks like a tankbuster on a WHM tank" and the rest of the run went amazingly... Other than the RDM ironically curing me whenever I took damage of any kind.

    Thanks for that run guys!!!

Yeah, same. I never pop it just for the tank. The thing for me is, if I'm going to have to use Cure or Cure II anyways there was no point in me casting Medica II. It's only 50 potency. Medica II doesn't make or break my MP, but I'd rather just use the MP on something more useful, like Holy, Stone, Aero III or Cure/Cure II. I just think it's far more efficient to use the MP and time on Holy for the initial mitigation. That's free time for the DPS to go ham on AoE while the tank doesn't take any damage. If the tank is doing big pulls and really needs it I would have put Asylum up already anyways. I usually run with a DRK so I just place Asylum where he places his Salted Earth.

One thing I like to do if the tank is taking massive constant damage is Cure II into Divine Bension (of course this only applies to the SB dungeons). That gives me a short window to start doing my Holy spam.

You can't tank both since you have to keep the tank moogles away from King Mog. So you did the right thing by picking up the tank moogles and dragging them away. Most tanks just let them run around hitting people, and they DO hurt when you're a healer or a squishy DPS.

Other tank just lost his marbles for no reason.

On another note, finally cleared Susano Ex. Got my bow. Really just want to get the AST, RDM, and SAM weapons and then not go in there for a while. Can't even bring myself to care about the mounts at this point. It's hard enough finding a group to clear the fight consistently. :/
