About the looks of the new raid gear

Because this thread is so long, I'm probably going to repeat something already said, but this armor is actually a reference to a recurring set of equipment from the series as a whole. While the set known as Genji equipment premiered in FFIII, it didn't get its unique aspects until FFV. Since then it has often boasted immunity to many status effects while offering powerful physical traits. The gloves in particular are known for often giving the ability to use two weapons at the same time.

I probably should have mentioned that the Genji armor was generally free to use by any Job, regardless of how stupid it sounds. In fact, a very powerful combination in many games is to give a healer a pair of Genji gloves and a pair of healing staffs so they can do the equivalent of Curaga for no MP, letting them use spells like Holy more often.

It's a robe with armor on it what are you saying. I do want less robe but this gear doesn't help.

Game need to make sense NOT only to FF fans or its the most stupid thing in the world. We didnt fight any asian themed bosses in the Omega, we are getting sets from OMEGA PARTS and Ironwork people are crafting it for you...and you get some samurai armor and also ugly as hell? What the hell, how does it fit theme if you are not blind ff fanboy? And FFV is not that popular and important, ive heard a lot from FFs and this armor is new to me, its not iconic by any means.

i always feel FFV is FFV, FFXIV is FFXIV, even Omega originate from FFV, the Omega we have in FFXIV have clearly distinguish feature compare to FFV, and not to mention the raid environments
as someone from far east i do not see any thing feature to far east theme in FFXIV Omega raid, it might fit Doma Castle or Kugane Castle, but not Omega raid in FFXIV

I think the Omega equipment is pretty far from the best looking gear in the game, but to say that the appearance of raid gear has gotten worse over time is definitely subjective.

As I recall, fans had been asking about Genji armor being implemented in XIV, and now seems like a pretty good time to add it.

I'm not overly impressed with a lot of the SB gear, but that's what glamours are for, yeah?

Genji gear can fit into SB with some non lazy way of implementation, we could have 24 ppl raid related to Doma and Kugane and those theme fit perfectly into

but Genji in Omega in FFXIV, just feel like lazy or fan service or probable combination of both, FFV have tons of outfit to choose from, and all we got are 3 slightly

different Samurai armour, it remind me Shadow tactics, Hayato the shinobi mock Mugen having too much armour for swift and lightly action, now look at what we got

I don't really get this particular criticism about the armor. I think it's good to have variety in appearance options, so yes, there should be some tiers where casters and healers get fairly heavy-ish armors.

Is this tier set butt ugly, though? Yeah.
