Also in terms of detail, FFXIV is far below average compared to games like Rift and Wildstar.
I would genuinely rather not have housing, than have 80% of the playerbase unable to access it in any meaningful fashion.
If Square Enix can't find a way to guarantee some access to their entire playerbase because they refuse to use instances or have horrendous data infrastructure, then they should just scrap it, because they clearly don't have the capabilities to implement it well.
I'm on Excal and I know the top two players who monopolize the housing. One of them bots with multiple accounts. Can 100% confirm this with video proof. Yet, it falls upon deaf ears on the GMs. They won't use evidence from a 3rd party and they apparently have detection methods.
What makes me upset the most are the forum community managers not actively addressing the housing situation and the GMs downplaying our multiple reports on botting. You are community managers! This isn't an A La Carte service where you can address one topic and not the other.
This topic has been beaten to death, so how about you pull your socks up and finally address it? If we can't put the offenders on blast because of the same TOS they're violating, then at the very least I'll put the Community mods and GMs on blast for their lack of respect on not publicly addressing the subject and the lack of respect to the multiple reports against these serial offenders who do obviously bot that nothing has been done with.
But someone's feelings will get hurt and you'll take no time to hand out warnings or temp forum bans for speaking out against that kind of nonsense. Especially when someone is actually brave enough to name drop because they've had it with the lack of action S-E will do to them because they're paying premium prices for multiple accounts and most likely max retainers.
I love this game and all, but as a player, I feel invalidated because I pay for one account and this person pays for at least 8 and breaks the TOS agreements.
And yeah, as a player, that kind of hurts MY feelings when we're ignored like that. /feels
I DARE a community manager to actually address these two long standing issues and actually take some initiative and tell us if there's a plan or... something. Until then, this palomino is gonna get whack-a-moled by many more frustrated people.

You aren't telling the full story. Those 2 players who you just accused for "extreme house hoarding" has been on that server for years, way before "refugees" came flooding in due to the free server transfers.
The plots there were left empty for years, and they bought it 1 by 1 after spending thousands of hours decorating each and every one of them. They are not hoarding for the sake of hoarding. They aren't flipping those houses either.
Perhaps you should read the full context before misleading other forumers to join your pitchfork army.

It doesn't matter.
Yes, they ARE hoarding housing. It doesn't matter that the houses were vacant for who knows how long.
No player should have the ability to monopolize a limited resource like housing.
Yes, SE needs to fix this. It should be one FC owner and one personal house per account, not character. Make houses account wide. Houses only demolished upon the 45 days.
People who do this are greedy and quite frankly, that article only paints them in a elitist, snobbish "I don't want riff raff in my neighborhood " light. It's not their neighborhood. I really do hope SE puts on their big boy pants and finally does something.
Edit: To add, Ward 12 went live in June 2016. Of the 12 FC's of theirs I found, all of them were founded before this patch or days after. I have no doubt the houses were bought at the same time as there's really no need to level so many FC'S unless you have/want housing.

Oh okay, so I guess that now their server is potentially being populated they should just continue to hoard an entire housing ward just because of their shallow reasoning/s? Asinine comments like yours are the very reason people like them think they can game a broken system. You aren't telling the full story. Sure, fair enough, and you can keep your "precious memories" but seriously? 28 houses? That's a bit much.I asked (Names redacted because TOS reasons) whether they’d give up any one of their plots for a new transfer desperate for a home. They paused. “These are our memories. Our precious time spent together,” (Redacted) said.
You mean to say at the time you weren't depriving anyone of houses. Population rises and look at where we are. Also, pretty petty example used there. Raiding mounts are earned by learning the fight, doing mechanics, practice and coordination. Housing is just making multiple alts, leveling them up to just at the minimum requirement level, transferring x amount of money to them and purchasing them. There's no mechanics involved there, or mechanics involving actual skill that doesn't involve low balling the next seller on the market board.Of course, some players still think they should be able to get those houses. “Not everyone needs everything in-game,” counters (Redacted). She argues that she’s not depriving anyone of housing; the plots were empty for years before they took them. “For example, not everyone deserves the Savage raiding mounts if they don’t do Alexander.”
You two might be hoarding them for yourselves and not for self gain, but at the end of the day, you're still greedy hoarders who are manipulating a flawed system implemented by its creators and depriving people who would actually love and enjoy the mechanics it brings. Saying what you did there only paints you as a couple of elitist something-or-others who hold yourselves above everybody else. There's no "gated community" option you can purchase for your ward, so suck it up and deal with the backlash of the many. S-E isn't without fault either as I say over and over again.
Lets put it this way - people who earn their mounts do it with skill, class and finesse. Mounts are also an UNLIMITED SUPPLY! You peddle crap on a market board and throw money on your many alts to soak up a housing market. That's not skill. That's just subversion of a system. Housing is not unlimited.
Don't kid yourselves.

Or they could just buy the mounts by paying for a clear.
Sure, some people get it through skill.
But making money takes time and dedication as well. Especially considering they had to make enough money for 28 houses.
"peddling crap on a marketboard" is how people make money.
And if you think its crap, try not using a market board at all in game.
