It will pass. On another note, I haven't even unlocked the Sam job quest because I don't care for Samurai.
Queuing as a DPS had a lengthy waiting time to begin with, and the changes to tanks and healers caused many players that mained these roles to either change to play DPS classes/quit the game until rebalances happen in 4.05. Red Mage is also a very popular job that has people playing it to level it up. The main reason the queues have increased for DPS is a combination of the new DPS classes and people quitting tanking or healing as they're unhappy with their respective skill changes, not Samurai alone.
Once 4.05 hits odds are that, if Squeenix addresses the main issues people are having with the current tanks, we'll see relatively shorter queues. Plus odds are Red Mage and Samurai will get nerfed into oblivion at one point or another or that people will just get tired of the shiny new jobs and go back to playing other classes and roles.
There's actually another issue at hand and that's the fact that Tomestones of Verity currently have very little use. I already have 3 classes with max level gear so there's almost no point for me to run any of the dungeons on my healer, or any class in general. Poetics also seem to have lost all their value.
They can greatly fix these problems by giving more options to use your Tomestones on. Most likely once the Anima quest line comes out there will be more uses and more people will start running dungeons again.
this is what happens when SE nerfs tanks and tells them to deal with it.
I think it is more that they added not one... but TWO popular DPS classes to the mix. Both are very powerful and everybody wants to be one.
PLD wasn't nerfed, PLD is actually extremely fun and powerful compared to HW, so by the same logic as some have said in this thread, you'd think there'd be a lot more PLDs trying to get up and get their characters into SB content.
I think it is more the DPS queues are bloated because of the two new classes both being DPS.
That said... if you wanna go levelup, try palace of the dead, but then that tends to be a mixed bag when you get groups that just end up wiping because nobody has any freaking common sense anymore.
Anyways, Samurai is crazy fun. It's probably my go-to DPS now. It's got a rather nice mix of abilities, a not-too-complicated playstyle, and perhaps slightly OP damage output lol. And the animations are top-notch.
The main issue is that WAR and DRK got some changes that people who main them are not happy with at all, and it's important to keep in mind that just because someone plays a tank doesn't mean they like all three tanks equally; plenty of WAR or DRK mains only liked the one job and might have no interest or may not like PLD's playstyle, as fun as it might be to someone else.
Of course, that's not to say that WAR and DRK are in a necessarily bad spot right now (Plenty of debates on tank forum about that), just that people that used to play them might not be happy with their current playstyle and have no interest in PLD to continue tanking over playing another role.
No melee got really interesting new changes, so everyone who wanted to play melee but was bored of the old melee classes just went samurai, simple as that.
It also doesn't help that Samurai is one of only two 2H Melee DPS, too and from what I've heard, DRG is usually looked down upon because it was once the "people trying to be cool" class, and there were a lot of bad DRGs which gave them all a bad name, and what little I've heard about their rotation, it sounds like it isn't anywhere near as fun.
So if you want to be a 2H melee, SAM is pretty much where it's at.
Unhappy wannabe DPS tanks switched to DPS jobs. DPS people who can't stand the long queues switched to tank. So it breaks about even. Outside of this, the longer than normal queues will subside after a couple of weeks from now. Keep in mind though that a typical dps df wait time has always been around 20-ish minutes, give or take. With two new dps jobs added, this ain't improving any time soon.
