About the looks of the new raid gear

It absolutely does fit the raid because this entire raid tier is themed after FF5, of which the Genji armor was the strongest equipment in that game. It's also a set of armor that is in almost every Final Fantasy game and it makes complete sense for it to be a raid tier reward and not relegated to something less impressive like a dungeon drop. It's often the best equipment or very top tier in most Final Fantasy games it's in.

It entirely makes sense for being a part of the Omega Interdimensional Rift Raid, especially the tier that's packed with FF5 stuff.

Game need to make sense NOT only to FF fans or its the most stupid thing in the world. We didnt fight any asian themed bosses in the Omega, we are getting sets from OMEGA PARTS and Ironwork people are crafting it for you...and you get some samurai armor and also ugly as hell? What the hell, how does it fit theme if you are not blind ff fanboy? And FFV is not that popular and important, ive heard a lot from FFs and this armor is new to me, its not iconic by any means.

As far as they are ugly, I'm still looking for my caster gear, people keeps telling me there's one but all I see is love for samurais.
Feel like SE really don't care anymore about us raider. Fanservice is cool but... meh. Difficulty has dropped down significantly in savage, and now we get even more ugly gear.

Oki i see some people did not like alex. But i liked alex the most.
i did not like coils because they were lame and tame and was.. meh.. and too much.

But this omega set is ugly.

What bothers me the most about these raid sets is the samurai look has nothing to do with Omega's aesthetic.

Everyone sitting here saying "Why isn't it futuristic? Why isn't it like Omega himself?"... well, we never got proper Bahamut-style gear until the final tier of the raid. We never got proper Alexander-style gear until the final tier of the raid... perhaps they're following that pattern?

Coil gave Allagan-themed gear the entire duration, just with different styles. The Alexander sets all had varying levels of steam and industrial punk to them, which fit the theme of that raid.

This stuff sticks out like a sore, poop-colored thumb.

Is the general taste of the raid armors getting worse and worse?

I mean, to me, the models from Coil were pretty cool, at least most of them.

I didn't really like Alexander models... Maybe a bit the ones from Midas, but the were generally quite inferiour to coil (To my taste)


And now, I can't help but feel that Square has managed to achieve a new level on ugliness.

They look just abhorrent.


So, what are your thoughts? I would like to remark that I'm talking just about raid-gear (So, in Stormblood, Omega)

Outside of the job specific gear, I have yet to see new armor I like in 4.0.... which is sad.

It's strange to me that it looks like gear better suited to a Doman Area. Considering Omega is essentially the rift from FF V, you would figure the gear appearance would be FF V based.
