Well, ya know.... if you want a game you can complete in a week, look elsewhere... There are plenty to choose from.

I'm sure alot of people who play this don't have the time to play that much, and play it casually here and there. This game has been here for years, and will probably be for years to come. You have the time to level your character, and time to "learn how to play" along the way. It doesn't have to happen in a week, in a month, or even in a year, but I'm sure even as casual here and there, you will get there.

I'm sure SE could just let you boost all your shite up there, but man, there are an awful lot of veteran players who have committed years to this game that would just walk off as soon as they did that ... I mean, I myself wouldn't want to queue up endgame content only to find it flooded with boost noobs everytime. Getting the level up is the EASY part. You're still going to have to grind it out either way it goes, because some of the gear sets that have been introduced into the game sometimes take months to get... for a single class. So, either way, you're going to have to grind it up to be competitive anyway.

Even the boost potion doesn't give you the "best" gear available for the class you decide to jump with.

As far as I know, if you played over 168 hours on a character and meet the MSQ requirement, you won't ever get a leaf icon, no matter if you buy a pot or not. New players who buy a pot (or anyone under 168 hours and who haven't cleared the story requirement if not buying the story pot, too) will always have a leaf. Many of the sprouts you see in SB content either level very fast or bought a pot and haven't reached their 168 hours yet.

I used PotD pre-Stormblood to get all my skills on my skill bar so I could easily progress without remapping it every time I got a new skill. Now, I just use it when my friends are bored(they LOVE leveling in there because they hate the CHANCE of a crappy roulette party), and get Verity with a 70 class while doing so.

It doesn't take that long if you're doing your roulettes. They give good bonuses. Make use of your Challenge Log as well, as it gives good bonuses too. Use food when you get into a dungeon right before the first monster. Beast Tribes help as well. Both for EXP and ability to purchase some crafting items that people might need to buy.

I thought it was a much lower number of hours played(like less than 50) to lose the leaf. Could be wrong since it's been a LONG time since I've had that thing. And that it was only hours of play related to have the "newbie leaf"

If you are skipping 80% of the games content... then what is the point?

Jump potion is for new people to have a chance to catch up to everyone else right off. The point is to get access to the new content which one potion does. It's not meant so anyone can pay their way to 60 on every job.
