I'm a bit confused, what is the point of the dummy, even if you beat it there's no way you can reproduce that level of dps as a BLM in the duty. Is it just to show your optimum dps, if you were able to cast without interruption for a whole fight?

The dummys are given relative HP, taking mechanics of the real encounter into consideration. You're not expected to replicate dummy dps on the actual encounter. It's just designed as a measuring post on whether your gear/rotation is up to par.

The lowest Ive gotten it at i290 is 0.x% not sure the percent, as im a bit tunnel visioned, but I know i can get it below 1%.
I was going to ask if these dummies are tuned for food, because I didnt use food. (also didnt use materia, as I was waiting till I get my tome gear)
Im sure with food/materia it would be easy, but I had to do a lot of shifty stuff, like using long hard casts to start with, and swift cast in awkward places, and even ruining my DPS rotation, just to land a stronger attack at the last 0.x%, knowing that my rotation is Fed up if the fight were to continue on.
I remember my Savage groups DRG couldnt beat the dummy, but he could on any other DPS job.
But when it came to actually doing savage, he was always told DPS, and we continued to win.
So Im inclined to agree the dummies tend to be overtuned, or at least requires food/pots for testing.

From my understanding dummy are tuned to not include food, pots, or party bonus.
Since raids have 8 people, all that tells us is your DRG got carried by the rest. The dummys are more tightly tuned than they were in HW, no doubt, but if you can't clear them at the appropriate item level, you're doing something wrong.

If he was being carried, how is it he was one of 2 DPS who werent dying, and he was highest DPS over a better geared MNK?From my understanding dummy are tuned to not include food, pots, or party bonus.

if anything, he carried the rest.
he can beat the dummy on his other jobs, and he's no stranger to DRG, just that his DRG was lesser geared, and wanted to go in as DRG to hit need on DRG gear.
The dummy was drastically different than the rest.
(He even checked his DPS on the dummy, the dummy had more HP for DRG than it did for other jobs. His DPS was still good, just didnt finish the dummy in time. I'd give numbers, but IDR what the numbers were, but it was above his other DPS which could beat the dummy.))

You won't like to hear this but you must if you really want to improve and beat that dummy/fight.has -ANYONE beaten this? with what item level? what rotation? this dummy can take literally everything I can possibly throw at it at item level 300 and come back for more.
Without some kind of huge buff food or intelligence potions I don't see how this is working as intended.
If anyone has figured out some secret to beating it at item level 300 or lower let's hear it.
Everything you are doing right now is mostly wrong. Your dps must be extremely low and thus you can't beat that dummy.
Compare your rotation to that of the top BLM, ask a friend to parse your rotation against a dummy, etc... there is a lot of improving that you can and should do in order to properly clear that fight/beat that dummy in a timely fashion.
Good luck, and don't take offense.
At the time I tried to beat the dummy the internet had nothing on the proper BLM rotation for level 70. so apparently nobody had figured out the "Right" way yet. I was doing everything which would logically improve my dps. have you even tried it yourself with BLM at that item level? You won't like to hear this but you must if you really want to improve and beat that dummy/fight.

In dungeons, even when the other dps was dead, bosses died in at least a semi timely fashion with just my dps by the way![]()

I wonder if the dummy is overtuned because it uses a % of the boss HP and there is a mechanic that shaves around 10% HP each time you do it correclty
