I prefer the quest idea.. Helpfully long, interesting, detailed and challenging quests that are fun some group some with npc companions and some solo.
Not just more grind mob for X hours, move to next camp.
So hopefully the petition is in the bin.![]()

This a thousand times over.
Paladin isn't a different class, it's a tanking extension of the Gladiator class. The same applies for every other job. You have a versatile base for light parties and grinds, and then you have specializations for full parties and harder content.
Patched in later = at the start? Lets make sense here.Eh..
2001/2002's FFXI only had RDM, WAR, THF, MNK, BLM and WHM accessible, then they patched in a bit later PLD, BRD, BST, DRK, RNG and SMN whom only had Carbuncle, so while not at launch there was indeed 11 (12) jobs in FFXI at the start.
I'm for the way XI did it because it does show that they are indeed jobs to be leveled and used in a different area (they're more party/raid based), but the exampled Paladin in I believe 4 gamer interview said if you unlocked it at 30 Gladiator and 15 MRD it would be 'at 30', but you can still exp it and level it up which will also count toward Gladiator, so while it won't be level 1, you will still be leveling it and having to quest to gain more skills and gear etc.
once again, even on jp release these classes existed, they may not have existed in beta, but they had these advanced jobs in the game on release.Eh..

notice that on this patch date, 6/11/ 2002 by na calendar order, they had adjusted paladin.02/06/11
- Bind was a godly spell that only wore off when the spell actually wared off. So even if you attack they never broke. This has been nerfed.
- Auction house became live, the system seemed different. It states that it was a full auction based system (I have no clue what this means).
- DEX bonus were added to the sneak attack and Hand to hand ability were added to the thief.
- When ever you received the gil steal traight, the mob stopped dropping gil (HAHAHA) this has been stealth fixed.
- PLD's hp has been putted lower than warriors. Their MP were pretty high.
the game was released on 5/16.
in order for paladin to be adjusted in a patch, they had to already exist.
The probably werent in beta, but they were in the game from the time of release.

You are correct in that those jobs were in the game since launch. But, let's not get off subject. This thread is about trying to convince of a really bad idea where we have to re-level the class specializations because they share the same name of the base classes in FFXI.

Jobs are essentially Class Paths. Many games allow you at some point in time to specialize more going down 1 of several Paths for that class. For instance in some games if you were an Enchanter you could either choose a charm path, which made your summoned pets and charm effects stronger or you could choose a buff path which made your party buffs stronger. This is similar to that, with the only different being you can have all of these 'paths' unlocked if you take the time to do the quest. As such it does not need a leveling system.
Now as far as new classes, they are confirmed by dev posts already. They will be implemented as time goes on. Almost guarantee that when PS3 version launches Arcanist and Musketeer will be added into the game and perhaps even that Sheperd DoL that was found hidden in the data minded files.
Waiting till PS3 launch for new classes that you level up makes sense, it sends tons of players back to rank 1 and gets veterans playing with the new players on day 1.
Troll thread is trollin'
95% of the thread disagrees with OP.
Just leave OP to his bad idea.
