    The mount feature is unlocked in game via one of the main storyline quests around level 20. Once that has been done, any mogstation mounts can be used as can any veteran reward mounts. Flying/swimming is unlocked later in the storyline, but you still get faster ground travel until then.

    Incidently, many of the games features and most of its instanced content(dungeons, trials, etc) is unlocked via the main storyline quests. So its a good idea to keep up with them.

    It's a side quest, so missable if one is only doing main story quests.

    Sidequest is Lv20 "My Little Chocobo", available after MSQ "The Company You Keep"
