I can see it being like an inverse of red mage. Have it be melee focused jumping back to fire a couple shots and then charge right back into melee.

They literally just added two sword wielding dps though? Tachi literally means sword. Well good luck anyways.
A gunblade job can be a tank. Magitek Knight or Centurion. A class that allows us to fight as the armored bosses we've encountered as part of the Garlean Empire. Nero and other skilled Gunblade users have a notable style when they're swinging their gunblade around that's different from gladiators. They've also are notably harder to kill. Maybe that's the next expansion's tank-class?
The next xpac better be a healer and tank job... All I have to say on the matter.
I was thinking that the gunblade class could be used to bring Blue Mage into the game. They would primarily be a melee fighter but have the ability to make special bullets from monster parts. They would use debuffs as bullets and the party/raid utility could be grenade type skills.
"Thread: We NEED a "Gunblade" job, a sword-wielding DPS job is long over-do..."
The "Gunblade" would make complete sense within FF14's lore because the Garlean's use gunblade's as a weapon, Triple Triad card game comes from FF8 which used gunblade's, and Lightning from the FF13 event wielded a futuristic gunblade. It only makes sense to add gunblade's within the game as a sword-wielding DPS that uses the advantage of the sword and gun's attack range. Maybe even have a gunblade that works like Squall's where the blade explodes upon impact when the trigger is pulled, causing more damage.
Square Enix, you MUST do this, many of my in-game and real-life friends are wanting it badly as well, and we are long over-do for a sword-wielding DPS. So please make it happen! =)
Who else agree's with me as well that a gunblade DPS job should be put within the game?! Like and/or comment below on your thoughts/opinions on the subject at hand. Thank you! =D
Sword-wielding DPS job is long overdue? I guess Samurai and Red Mage don't have swords and/or are DPS...
The other guy had an excuse but in this very page it was stated this is a necro. Unless you want to say Samurai and Red Mage we're already playable jobs in January of 2015.
i have seen a few paladins with no shield at all. im not sure if its a glamour though, for i have yet to encounter such an item. they are probably just players whom dont have shields at all, but i cant say for sure.
either way, easiest option is to just have a "hide secondary" setting specifically for Gladiators and Paladins.
personally, a duel wielding tank would be interesting that can equip more than one weapon.
