Pretty much this. A DDoS attack works by throwing A LOT of useless data at a server in order to crash it, it will almost never be aimed at a single person as they're even pretty rare against big companies. and even then DDoS attacks are basically impossible to defend against due to the nature of how they work. But bottom line is; sorry OP that's not a DDoS attack.

I don't disagree this is what some people consider normal, and I've read a multitude of threads about this very situation. That being said, a normal two hour block of activity WITHOUT being connected to FF14 only resulted in 15 of these, not one ever 2-3 secs. I've never had this amount of traffic on my router before and it started around the same time SB launched. I'll need a little more convincing that this normal.

It's very normal specially if your using a Netgear brand router that has terrible logging features. I can guarantee you most of what your seeing is dropped traffic that is happening between you and the FFXIV servers and because your probably using a Netgear router it logs the anomalies in an alarming manner when its really not everything else is just background noise like large scale automated portscans and legitimate traffic from cdn providers and also stuff like resent packets.
