Because the world of final fantasy XIV is akin to that of medieval Europe, it's believable and needed, this game's atmosphere would be completely ruined if we changed everything to currently used dialects simply because someone is too illiterate to enjoy the atmosphere.

I don't have an issue with them adding bells and whistles to the dialog, I have an issue about me going to pick up a quest and hearing a monologue that clearly shows they just want to spew some backstory with no real justification.
