We beat this in 2 tries with people in 70 job quest gear.
My point was that oodles of people cried when Final Steps was the MSQ roadblock because it was apparently too difficult for casual players who just wanted to experience the story. Niddy was never nerfed, people just learned how to beat him. Shinryu will balance himself out as people get used to his mechanics.
I have mixed opinions on this. It trains you on the fundamentals used for the Primals, and I think it does it well. On the other hand, I know a number of people who will never clear it without being carried. So yes, the suggestion that it gates main story quest content is a valid one.
But, it will end up in Duty Finder eventually, and will have a Tomestone reward for having more geared people carry the less geared people, so... I dunno. It could receive a nerf, but I think other systems in the game address the difficulty concerns. Those will more ability will get to new content faster, which creates the skill tiers the better players seem to want, while still letting everyone see all the MSQ content once it hits Duty Finder. Nothing really out of place, from my perspective.
I think the difficulty is fine as it is. I think people just need to learn and focus a bit more on mechanics in that fight. Some people do tend to figure out how it works by looking at em, and some might need communication to understand them better.
I personally don't think it needs a nerf, nor did I think step of faith needed a nerf, and yes I have done it with DF parties only, didn't go with a pre made or my static, nor did I go extremely over geared etc. before that argument comes up again.
However, just like step of faith was back in the day, if you get it as a trial roulette queue, most people are leaving before the duty actually began, making it for some people, especially DPS even harder to clear, since they will have to wait hours once again in queue, or tanks/heals not getting through it since constantly DPS is leaving lol.
While it don't matter as of right now, or well not as much, they shouldn't have put the gear vendor behind that gate. I could have understood if they would put it as a gate for regular Omega, that will be implemented soon, even so I don't think that would be a good idea either, it would have made much more sense.
I do understand that with more gear etc, it will be easier to do, but some players are not patient, nobody wants to sit there for 4 weeks and get gear first, before finishing the story, and as mentioned above, they wouldn't even be able too, since you can't access the vendor without it lol.
I just hope for my own sanity, that it will be a small nerf and nothing major or drastically. Given the experience with SE tho, a lot of duties and trials have been literally destroyed because of the nerf hammer that was implemented, on top of the echo implementation and constant increase throughout the patch cycles.
Umm... it IS in DF, its part of the trial roulette lol.I have mixed opinions on this. It trains you on the fundamentals used for the Primals, and I think it does it well. ...derp.
Well then.
Hrm.
I ran it tonight with some friends who were having difficulty clearing. We did wipe twice, with 3 people who were cleared and geared. I chalked that up to new people in the fight, but perhaps it is a little difficult.
When does Echo kick in? That's the other rubber-banding mechanic that pulls people through content. We ARE still less than 2 weeks after official launch.
<.< uhh.... sounds like I can black list that to me unknown content after I finished it only for the story! I dont like difficult stuff in MMO's! I mean: I learn very fast the enemys their rotations and weakpoints, but many other people dont , or cant, or dont want.. not really fun if just 1 or 2 randoms are enough to wipe entire party and you have to restart all over... I has 2 chars I play - did 2x Chrysalis, 2x Steps of Fate 1 + 2, 2x Ultros&Typhon and never again >_>
Farming gear 300 in Ala Mhigo before I try again next week. My Verify's going cap before finish that trial lol
Uhm...every Final Fantasy game ever has bosses/trials/encounters that people said were too hard, not fair, blah blah. Anyone who has played the games in this franchise knows there are some fights you will get slapped around until, straight up, YOU FIGURE IT OUT.
I hope they don't nerf the final MSQ trial. Make it hard. Make it FF appropriate. Players will figure it out.
