    One major problem with FFXIV imo is NPC names. JP and NA (pretty sure it's same for EU and DE version)

    Not so easy when saying talk to friends or someone about NPC character/mobs.
    Hard to say stuff like lets go kill (NPC name) or Go talk to (NPC Name) - since the NPC name is different by locale... some just JP names just use katakana so can try to say the English name from that but some mobs... doesn't work that way.

    Same thing for leve names but they added leve names to dictionary so that part can be worked around.

    Does <t> even work properly still? I haven't tested in a long time, if I'm on JP client and do <t> to a mob to show NA player, on NA players client it still shows up as JP name I know reps responded on this one also.

    Something I've found incredibly useful is to communicate with numbers when you can.

    My Japanese isn't very good, so saying, "I've already searched both of the spots out here" is much harder than saying, "My quest is 2/3" (Especially since I didn't know the word for search). Even between two people who don't speak the same language at all, things like "200/200" for full inventory will work.

    Also, from a thread a while ago

    that's what I mean about NPC names, same thing applies for area names but at least those are listed in the auto-translate. Depending on the local they use different naming which makes it hard when you try to direct translate and it's not what it is.

    Of course, the only name you need to know for grind parties level 30 to 50 is
    ラプトール = Raptor

    Just wanted to add that the horizontal line that you see in words like ラプトール is quite often left out, so don't be surprised if it's not there. Like ラプトル or just ラプ for Raptor. ^^

    Also, I vote for 回復 (kaifuku) for healing. That's the word we use most commonly.
    ケアル (Cure) is also sometimes used, but almost never ヒール (heal).

    Oh, sometimes people will say ヒーラー (healer) for mages, or ソーサラー or ソサ (sorcerer) instead.

    Is romaji widely understood among JP? I have a JP buddy who speaks pretty good English but it would be nice to be able to explain some stuff better that the auto-translate doesn't cover.

    Also is there any Romaji for Ul'dah/Gridania/Limsa? Although my friend knows "LL"
