Alphabet Letters to hang on wall / Signs

Just a thought... Would be neat to have alphabet letters to hang on walls to make phrases or what not for decoration. Signs may not be feasible but (dye-able) letters (like pictures) I would think could be implemented with little overhead.

Yeah... like the kind children play with on a fridge or in the bath tub.

Sounds cute, but people would just write out dirty words and it would be more workload for the GMs.

As valid as your concern is, it has zero merits because of the following reasons:

1) The creative benefits outweigh the potential risks.
2) The only place these letters could be used is within the confines of an estate or apartment.
3) We can revoke guest access so no one can come inside, see them, and get offended or triggered.
4) Every apartment and estate has a greeting feature, we can use that to give visitors a warning before they enter and a disclaimer for when they do.
5) The only time this would be causing extra workload for a GM is if it's inside an FC estate for everyone to see, or if someone goes out of their way to invite you to their apartment or estate to show you a spelled-out word that's offensive, falls within the description/confines of a hate crime, and it's solely designed to directly or indirectly mock or antagonize you.
6) While something may be a "dirty word" for you/one person, it may not be for me/another person... "boss/queen/bad bitch" is one example of this!

If any devs/GMs are reading this, please give us letters to hang up on walls

Alternatively, you could limit instant access to this idea by selling generic words like "hello", "welcome" and "goodbye" from a vendor and if anyone wants a customized one then they will have to go through an approval process where the person has to submit the word(s) that he/she wants and after it's approved by a GM or and sent to their in-game mailbox.

We already have chat where we can write dirty words. While chat logs are probably faster to check for gm than going in to a house to see what is written the number of available houses would probably limit the amount of possible problems too.

And pretty much every company that has ever tried has learned their lesson about UGC with an approval process in an MMO. Do you have any idea how much manpower that takes? (And in annoying, inconsistent bursts of activity, too!)

all your "reasons" create too much work for the devs, and it's not worth the time vs cost.

I'd hesitate to use up 10-30 item slots to spell out a message on a wall when we're already using that many just to hide pillars and the like. We would need greatly increased item limits before players could really make good use of it.

True… maybe we could have a sign (so one slot) that lets us put a word or even a small message on it, kinda like the guest book gives you a small amount of characters to write something.

I was going to submit a design for the furnishing contest but didn't get to it. Didn't matter anyway because none of the 24 Designs I did submit made it and this idea was less cool or useful as the other stuff I submitted :/
