Following up on this topic, I found THIS little gem on tumbler - two people apparently own almost an entire ward of housing on Mateus...

Rather fascinating read. Honestly I'm on-side with the guys who own the ward there; they bought those plots and turned them into something interesting long before the 'Balmung refugee crisis'. They were a group of players who came to Mateus because it spoke to them, and it had the space they needed to envision their goal of building their very own settlement. The fact that suddenly all the plots have evaporated overnight, a year after they built their project isn't their fault, and the natives especially complaining they missed out really have no excuse for sitting on this so long.

I'll probably go pay their ward a visit tommorow and see if I can draw any tips for decorating my own pad from their work.

Iunno, ive seen more mateus natives mad housing is gone and blaming balmungian transfers for it than balmungians complaining theres no housing. They are used to not having any :P

Heck, i've seen people blaming people from Balmung for tons of things, calling them rats, and all sorts of stuff. lol

Yeah I'm a transfer myself, and people have been pretty unpleasant about it. Indeed the first Mateus FC we joined, we ended up leaving after they became hostile to us.

In all honesty, they should relinquish the plots and just keep two if they're all just as bad as this sampling. FFXIV is also not the game for this type of debauchery, they should play The Sims or Minecraft where they're not going to affect other people's level of enjoyment in a MMO.

I'm laughing so hard right now. Remember all the times when someone from Balmung mentioned housing and no one cared because #Balmung problems. How the tables are turning.
And as for the guys that own the ward. As long as they are using the houses and enjoying I don't care how many they have...even if they were on Balmung. Better that than empty shell FC houses or people who buy for profit.

Your examples are really biased and trying to shed them in a negative light, betting on your personal opinion of them.

I think it's awesome. Sounds so much more alive than people who buy housing, slap a stable in it and never do a damn thing else, even letting the stable get dirty. That's what the apartments are for, and its a damn shame to see the bigger ones go to waste just because someone wanted to sink their gil into a thing.

They also stated they hated plots that were empty... does that mean they hate themselves? Maybe they should take their own advice.

If we're gonna use that excuse, then you can't really say that the houses with a stable on it aren't of a certain "theme and style".

I don't think they should have 28 plots to themselves, no. But apparently I can't have an opinion on a forum, I have to look at them "neutrally" to decide whether twenty-eight frickin' plots should be owned by two people who have amateur designing skills.

That's nice, but as I mentioned prior, this is not the game for that debauchery. They want to do that, they have Minecraft and The Sims where they can't bother other people with their antics. Fun is fun, but this is crossing the line.

How many of those people from Balmung I bet you bought a house of their own, no FC attached, the moment they saw a plot open? How long have people on Mateus had to create or join a FC and work together for a company house or join a FC with a house already? Had those two people not bought most of that ward themselves, how many of those houses would have been bought for personal use anyway.

Either way, 16? of those were established with a dummy FC, bet if they were talked to, rather than shunned and spat at, those could be opened up to other players. A themed FC whereas those who joined have to maintain that theme? Sounds like a neat idea, start up the roleplay element in that server maybe.

Mateus folks had their chance, they didn't take it. Balmung folks are likely just as guilty.
