So, quick question about the near-end of the SB MSQ.
After finishing the Ala Mhigo dungeon, we are taken up to the Menagerie where we find out that Zenos has obtained the dormant Shinryu.

So... when did this happen exactly?

The last we saw of Shinryu was at the end of HW where it and Omega went flying in different directions.
We do not see Cid nor Nero during SB until we learn that they found Omega. So when did Zenos make the effort to locate, acquire, and relocate Shinryu to Ala Mhigo?
Unless I missed some minor detail during one of the cutscenes, it feels very sudden and tacked on.

Could it have something to do with Zenos' visit in Doma?

Omega weapon was created for the sole purpose of binding bahamut. I just assumed that omega was successful in its mission to capture shinryu after all and all zenos had to do was locate the bound Dragon and transport it to ala mhigo. Should have been a simple task with their magitek capabilities.

It was around when he returned to Gyr Abania, based on his dialogue right before he left Doma Castle and later when he was informed of the liberation of Doma.

I doubt Shinryu landed in Doma, Doma's all the way at the other side of the Garlean empire from the Wall where the two fought.

I think it's likely that Zenos just found Shinryu much like Cid eventually found Omega, throughout the events of the expansion, behind the scenes. We just weren't told they'd found it because it would've hurt the reveal a little bit. Shinryu and Omega probably just landed in different areas of Gyr Abania, with the Garleans being more lucky than us as to where Shinryu landed.

I think it's likely that Zenos just found Shinryu much like Cid eventually found Omega, throughout the events of the expansion, behind the scenes. We just weren't told they'd found it because it would've hurt the reveal a little bit. Shinryu and Omega probably just landed in different areas of Gyr Abania, with the Garleans being more lucky than us as to where Shinryu landed.

Except that the reason it's called Shinryu is because the Domans saw it in the sky and were reminded of a figure from their legends, right? I may be remembering the cutscene wrong, but I'm pretty sure that was what was said, which implies that it did land over in Othard somewhere.

That said, I assumed Zenos picked it up while in Doma, and that was possibly the reason he went there in the first place, rather than just to check up on Yotsuyu - regardless of what we or she was told. He certainly seems the type to be far more interested in tracking down a super-primal than the affairs of an imperial province, even if it is on the verge of falling.
