Discussion: What would get you to transfer servers?

I think guaranteed housing and the entire FC transfer would get people moving. Since I keep seeing over and over the thing holding players back is the loss of their social connections and the loss of housing being the key stopgaps despite the transfer incentives being quite generous on paper.


This may be why Shirogane isn't open yet. Those homes are being held off to give tranferred FC's (and possibly players) their housing back.

I guess if I can be guaranteed that I could take my house with me (together with all the furniture in place, as I spent a long time placing it), it'd be easier for me to take the step, so long as my friends are willing to transfer as well >_<

A brand new server where my house could come with me. I also dislike the "penalty" imposed for transferring to designated servers. I know it's only 90 days, but I like the option to moving away again if I decide the smaller server isn't for me.

An official RP server, and the ability to transfer my house/FC and all of my characters' apartments. Even then, it would greatly depend on whether or not my friends would be willing to transfer also. I've been on Balmung for a long time, it's not easy to just pick up and move, even if it meant shorter queue times and a less crowded server.

1. Consolidation of the Preferred Worlds
The fact that we have too many worlds for the number of NA center players was the culprit for the congestion in the first place. No one wants to be on an empty server and therefor everyone flocks to the same servers as the 'safe choice'. We need a guarantee that there are no empty servers.

2. Cross-Server Moving
I will not rebuild both my private house and our FC house from scratch. My friends and I spent a ton of work and gil on making our homes what they are. (Certainly more gil than they currently offer, too.)

3. Cross-Server Linkshells and Friendlists
Are coming, luckily, at some point, and are vital to maintaining communities.

4. FC Moving?
I don't know how it currently works actually, but even my tiny FC has put time and effort into getting where we are, and I will not lose any of it.

The promise that the new server can hold more than a few thousand people at a time. Game will feel dead a month from now, only new Mor Dhonashire (Rhalgr's Reach) and Kugane will have people in them. I'd like for more server community than datacenter spread over multiple servers. People are forced on so many different servers it's barely an MMO and more like choosing a small server in Counter Strike.

I know I'm wishing for the impossible which is why I'll probably never end up switching servers. Phoenix is garbage but at least it's home I guess.
