I'm sorry but you have no idea what you're talking about. Not being able to build TP safely is a serious limitation. It's not quite as bad as the "having no good weapon skills" problem but it's most certainly not "irrelevant".
Again, irrelevant, especially since any smart arc will have invigorate on thier action bar, which helps thier tp generation, and if that arc is paying attention to Ifrit's actions during the battle, then they can avoid/minimize damage no better or worse than other dds. Maybe I should start calling you Kerrigan, since you've done nothing but justify zerging as the only viable strategy.Rooted in ws =! rooted in main source of TP gain. Apparently you didn't read my argument well either. What I implied was that ARC is no where near the efficiency in doing damage as a class that can use AA without getting locked.
Also for your consideration: we did our first Ifrit kill with a GLA and it works perfectly fine. It mitigates more damage than MRD for sure. MRD outputs x10 the amount of DPS while also mitigating a moderate amount of damage, just under GLA. If you have someone who wont invite you because you are x class and they want y class I suggest you man up, grow a pair and run with someone else. Welcome to MMOs. Classism will always be around because people want to beat stuff as efficiently and as fast as possible for loot.
whatever you say, since class options are clearly not an issue for you.
1: Bloodletter after effect no longer does 500 damage, it does 372.
2: Bloodletter effect does not stick nearly as often as it used to.
3: Yes, Arc can use invigorate, but that doesn't make up for its slow TP gain compared to every other DPS.
4: All of ARC's WS are bad because they are generally low level WS's except for Bloodletter which I already mentioned was bad.
5: Can't use auto-attack on ARC in Ifrit fight phase 5 and beyond because Sear damage will eat away your mages MP, thus making you resort to light shot, which has animation lock so TP gain is even slower due to limitations on when it can attack and when it can't.
6: Having all LNC opposed to using ARC isn't Zerging, it's just time efficient.
EDIT: forgot to say Bloodletter's base damage is very low as well.

Except everyone will have Invigorate on their bar... How is that even an argument? In fact, the LNCs' Invigorate will yield MORE TP than the ARCs since it's their native ability, which is just reinforcing the point he's making. I don't think you understand that after you factor in the length of animation lock and server lag, you have to stop animation locking yourself BEFORE he uses a move, not in reaction to watching his body. His body tells you what to do, but you have to be ready to do it right away, not stuck in a Light Shot animation.Again, irrelevant, especially since any smart arc will have invigorate on thier action bar, which helps thier tp generation, and if that arc is paying attention to Ifrit's actions during the battle, then they can avoid/minimize damage no better or worse than other dds. Maybe I should start calling you Kerrigan, since you've done nothing but justify zerging as the only viable strategy.
whatever, I'll do Ifrit as an arc, and I WILL WIN, just to make you all choke on your elitist skank words.
go ahead and do it, nobody said you can't do it.
what everyone IS saying is that you're gonna do pretty crappy damage compared to other DPS while you're doing it is all.
No, he said that it's doable, but not as easily as other classes. He even said they did Ifrit runs using archers, but that it was a lot slower and more dangerous than using lancers.
No, not "their main source of dealing damage", it's their main source of gaining TP. And it is a liability when other classes can move freely while attacking for TP while the archer cannot do so.
Yes, every other DD gets rooted in place during their WS we all know that, but we're not talking about weaponskills. We're talking about normal attacks.
MRD/GLA/LNC/PGL: WS animation lock, but free moving normal attack.
ARC: WS animation lock AND normal attack animation lock
GLA is a perfectly fine class to fight Ifrit on. If you get denied from parties, then that's the fault of the party leader.
Make your own party if no one lets you join theirs. If they don't see the value in your level of play, then screw 'em. Don't rely on other to choose you, take the bull by the horns and form your own team.
