Hopefully either AST is nerfed or the other healers are brought up to par sometime soon. I don't want to feel like I'll be forced to level an AST to do certain content. -__-

It IS important to note that meta comps really only affect something like the top 10% of the playerbase, and that people who blindly insist on said comps for their PFs are kinda shooting themselves in the foot tbh. (You'll spend just as long waiting for that dream party sometimes as you'd save time clearing stuff faster - just my two cents.) So some of that is clearly on the community to quit being boneheaded and realize that people playing their best or favorite job is more likely to result in faster clears than a full raid-perfect speedrun comp.
Know that I'm not trying to poo-poo on the fears or concerns of the WHM/SCH community, as I'm just as cheesed about their Stormblood adjustments as you are. I guess I'm just trying to point out that the community also needs to be aware of how little "the meta" actually effects their PF farm groups and recruit accordingly.
I'd wager it's even narrower than that. Like top 5% of raiders, the ones that can actually competitively speed kill stuff. Yet ironically... those top players are often a lot more open to trying different comps than those that aren't the 'aim for world first' types. It is a shame but it's those that blindly follow the trickle down that really kill.
I think the only thing holding back more PF locks right now is, fortunately, that healers and tanks are in somewhat short supply again.
Yeah you're not gonna get locked out of doing things cause you're not a cardboi. However, it's perspicuously goddamn clear that them cardbois are the most powerful healer by country miles.
You'll never have to "be forced" to level a certain healer.
Tbh, the only content where it could be a problem is savage content.
Like, if sch can't handle the heal or if healing requirement is very high.
But on every other content, healer should be just fine, even if they are not balance.
There has been NO content except savage at their release (or the next weeks) that needs a certain class more than another because they basically all can do it.
This post is pure win if you read it in a Kentucky accent. I think I'll respond in kind.
I fer one agree witchu, Verdan. Them cardbois are right powerful. Gotta kick like a mule. O' course, you wouldna felt it cuz the cardboi woulda healt chu before ya hit the ground. Hee hee.
Now, witthat said, noones gonna kick no white robe or bookboi outta na instance. That's jus' crazy talk an' enny one that tries sit will get tan earful from me!
(I mean the above in fun. True story, when I moved to Ohio from Louisiana no one could understand me. Stupid yankees. Now, I am one. Go fig.)
I had someone quit a Susano party last night because I joined as WHM and the other healer joined as SCH. Gave us the choice of swapping to AST or watching him leave. Luckily he was just a jerk and we got a replacement DPS quickly enough, but this is a thing that is currently happening. A couple statics in my FC were toying running double AST, but I'm not sure if that fell at the planning stage or not since Omega isn't out yet.
I've watched groups with AST ignore susano ex lightning mechanics, and heal through it. Doesn't work with whm or sch.
As many have stated this isn't just wild speculation and assumption. There really is a trend building where the (obviously powerful) ast is being pushed to the forefront of preference in fights, which tbh is completely understandable just disheartening for other heal classes. The white robes and book bois are being pushed aside and the rise of the card bois has begun!
-By the light of the crystal-
Wut.
Noct AST is good, like, really good. Most people tend to prefer Diurnal because something about regen just feels comforting but Noct really is great, probably better than it's counterpart imo.
