This will not solve anything, it's just going to cycle who is stuck in queue and who isn't, and double some people's queue times.

This is clearly just a tactic to force people to move off congested servers. SE will earn itself a bad reputation if it continues such abusive tactics.
Just going to repeat myself here again.
Its not going to happen during Prime times, but BEFORE to prevent the AFK players from making Prime Time Ques even worse.
The logged out people will be logging in into an empty server, meaning you wont have to wait for people to empty up spots, meaning you will have a FAST moving que.
During Non-Prime Times there wont be thousands of players online anyways, so the ques will be smaller and fast....

Queues were short prior to 3pm EST on Balmung while I was still on it. The issues happened during prime time

Talking about the Forced Logout happening before prime time, not the Que issues.

Yes, which is why if they clear the server before prime time, then it won't be as bogged down with all the people still afk crafting since they went to work in the morning or bed the night before to avoid queues when they get home from work.

E.g. Using overly simplified made up numbers let's say the server has a max capacity of 5,000 active players and before prime time currently there are 5,000 logged in, with 2,500 of them exploiting their way past afk timers but with only 100 or so in the queue. Players at this time wouldn't see much of a queue, if at all since turnover of the 2,500 active players is still large enough to make the queues move relatively quickly. Once prime time hits, however, and the queues jump to 2-3,000 then clearing the 2,500 exploiters frees up a lot of space for all those people expected to soon be in the queue. Obviously there would still be some people logging in just to afk, but doing it at random times would certainly release a significant portion of these spots filled up by people taking advantage of the exploit, since most of the afk people will still be afk when it happens and not log back in right away.

It's not a perfect solution, but they did mention it was temporary and specific to the goal of removing people using exploits to bypass the 30m afk log out timer which it does, somewhat hamfistedly and imperfectly, address.

Edit: Not to say I think the forced log out is a great idea and deserving of full support, but I can see exactly why they're doing it and haven't yet come up with a more elegant and permanent solution since that would take more time. And I also don't think it's actually that big of a deal from a player perspective. Assuming they only do the reset during an off-peak time, then at most a small percentage of players will ever have to deal with what will amount to a 10-15 minute break in their gameplay. And to be honest, I suspect the whole problem will just fix itself over the next few weeks as the natural attrition of players after a patch happens.
