Optimal video cards for streaming FFXIV

Hi, Unfortunately.. My Video card works well for every other game. currently I'm running an AMD R9 380X card, which does not handle the age of this game very well at all. I'm on a budget in terms of what I'm willing to pay, I'm not graced with infinite money fora brand new modern NVIDIA card.

    I'd like to know:
    What cards you run
Do they work well with other games (Overwatch, Borderlands, whatever)
How much RAM does it have
    How much is the card

If you aren't sure, the best thing would be the full name for it so I can look on newegg. I'd love to play this game more but AMD card haven't been built to deal with the DirectX problems in this game, specifically the R9 series.

You should list your budget as well so people can tell you closer to what you're looking for, tho I am surprised yours can't handle it. It runs on my husbands potato.

So here are two I have (all running 1080p 144hz)
    Computer #1
    Nvidia GTX 760
High for FFXIV 60 FPS, Low-Medium on most other intensive games, 60-ish FPS. Depends if you value looks or FPS.
    8gb RAM
I doubt you'll find it even used.

    Computer #2
    Nvidia EVGA GTX 1070 SC
Max FFXIV 80-144 FPS depending on busy-ness of area, Ultra-High 80+ FPS in other intensive games.
    16 gb RAM
    Cost $350-400

That being said newer Nvidia and AMD cards should be better than what you have, even the near budget ones if you're just looking for a temporary fix. So give us what you're looking for and we can help you even better! ^.^

oh gosh yea I forgot about that- my current AMD card is in the series (R9) that has problems running ffxiv DirectX 11, as the card itself does not recognize it as directX 11. That card is an amazing card for every other game (Overwatch, WoW, really anything can run on it) and was only about 250 bucks. So I suppose 250-400 range is the most I'll go for right now. It needs to be able to run other newer games along with having that 4gb (really a must for having obs streaming) I was going to go for a GTX 1070 but they're currently listed right AT my budget.

But on the bright side, your amd card is worth $250 and maybe $300 especially if it is not a reference card.

I know that my card might not be all that of a good choice for a budget since it is the Nvidia 980 with 4GBs of RAM. I get 58fps with max settings on 2k ultrawide resolution. (Note that resolution does matter as my current card cannot run this game well on 4k. I need a card with at least 6GBs of RAM for that.)

I wanted to let you know that Nvidia already announced their next graphic card chips. Last time they did that, it was the following year around May when they had them available and not just out of stock. So, if you can wait that long, the 1080s will drop in price.

It is up to you though.

You'd have to go with NVIDIA, unless you want to spend 3x of origional retail price on and amd card because of the mining craze.

A $170 AMD RX 470 is now selling for $400 used and $5-600 new.

NVIDIA cards havent went up so much, but alot of them have jumped up by $100 like a 1060 3gb is now around $250 for the cheapest, whereas they were selling for $175-$185. 1070 and 1080 have went up dramatically.

You won't find a decent AMD card in stock anywhere, even in your local stores, even at the inflated prices!

An RX 480 or 580 would offer you some performance increases, but it wouldn't be ground breaking or anything, since this game runs poorly on pretty much all AMD cards.

A used 980 would perform 50 to 60% better than the card you have. For this game, it's on par or a little better than a 1060 card.
