A friend was so kind to offer doing low level roulette together yesterday - him on samurai, me on scholar. We get sunken temple of Qarn, yeah!
The tank and the other dps reveal they've queued together aswell - the tank as mentie, in a sense and the SMN as a mentor, wearing his mentor-crown. Now, I know we hear a lot of people complaining about "bad mentors" and whats normally meant by that is "someone just wearing the crown but not wanting to teach" - this guy might have been the first real bad mentor I've met: he wanted to help, but was so, so horrible it at... But lets begin at the start:

The tank is a gladiator. Or, to be more precises: He queued as a gladiator, because he does has his job-crystal, just not euqipped - great job you did there, Mr. Mentor! Queueing before making sure your little mentie was ready - or letting him queue before checking that he was on his job. Yes, I'm blaming the mentor here in either scenario - he was supposed to help that guy and apparently even promised/offered to and the first, easiest thing would have been to make sure that the tank is actually queueing as his job.
Because the tank is actually a paladin, the gear hes using is that of a paladin, meaning: AF. That he cant wear as gladiator. So head and feet slot are staying empty.
Still, only Sunken Temple, Selene can solo-heal that and even with the nerfs to scholar-dps I can cast and spread my dots.
...to notice that I'm the only one doing that. I ask my friend if SMN-dots are so useless after the changes that they're not worth casting anymore - to which he replies "But they are up?" - "Yes, those are mine... SMN isnt casting them"
After getting confirmation from some SMN-friends that dots are infact still a thing for SMN I'm asking our mentor about it who claims he hasnt played in a while and forgot about his dots... at least he starts using them half way through the dungeon instead of only casting ruin up til then. That he was using Ifrit and not managing him - ah, who cares at this point!

So, not only failed this mentor to make sure they've queued properly, he also had no idea what he was doing himself nor did he gave the tank any real helpful tips - yeah, sorry saying "use your 1, 2, 3 combo" is a bad excuse for mentoring.
I felt actually sorry for that poor gladiator and I wanted to take that SMNs crown away so badly and tell him "You can put it on again once you've learned how to play again!"

Yeah, i shyt my pants when i saw our War tank lose well into 60% of his hp in 1 swing from the last boss in the 69 dungeon as a blm.

Dem crit direct hit tank busters are going to be monstrous.

I'm feeling this, as a healer... Getting my AST to 70 (already have WHM70) and I'm noticing that some tanks are still stuck in the 'pull everything' meta of Heavensward.

Ran Doma last night with my fiance, I was on WHM to help him with his clear, and the DRK tank pulls ALL the mobs in the first area up to, and including the little gunship dealios.
I pop everything I have - presence of mind, largesse, even had to tetra and bene, and the pt wiped. I think there were like 4 groups of mobs there? It was an absolute mess, and the PT setup we had didn't allow for effective AoE :/

If I'm spamming back to back cure2's as fast as humanly possible (like at this point I'm hammering the button and can't even weave a regen in because the tank would die) and your HP bar is STILL dropping by leaps and bounds, then there is something drastically wrong with the way you want to pull things.
After we wiped I asked the tank to not pull half the zone, to get the reply "Spam harder" because again, that's really going to help those recast + GCD timers. . .

I'm not expecting folks to do one pull at a time (maybe, if you're squishy e_e.... had a PLD today that needed an extra TLC on single pulls), but I would like to see folks have a bit of a care for the poor healer who's about to have a heart attack because you (the general 'you') wanna pull ALLLLLL the things. D:

RDM in the Menagerie: "I can't use mana shift because i might run out of MP"

Me, filled with salt from 3 prior wipes in this place: "You see, when you run out of mp, you can't dps, but when I run out of mp, everyone freakin' dies, so take one for the team"

Other healer also flipped her lid at the RDM, but she was much more profane.

In the Ala Mhigo dungeon at Zenos I was running with 2 FC mates and one Duty Finder selected healer, who kept dying on us and standing in bad (to her defense she did say she was blind in one eye which probably was not helping).

We managed to finish with myself (the tank, PLD) and one dps, when Zenos was at low health and about to use his Raidwide after the 3 swords phase, the DPS, (Dragoon) was at low health so I healed him with Clemency so he would survive the attack to Limit break right afterwards. This left Zenos at 2% HP and with one more clemency from me onto the DPS he was able to survive to help me finish him.

Maybe it's just confirmation bias, but I've noticed a trend with a lot of Reds being self-centered pricks in a way that doesn't seem to happen with Samurai. It's like all the Black Mages and Monks who'd never ever move for the team have taken up that job.

Well, if you're a tank and we auto-wipe to sword on Susanoo with the unavoidable rage damage, it isn't for lack of heals. And if squishier characters die to the other mechanics from orbs at the end of the sword mechanic despite lots of AoE heal spam...

...just vote abandon rather than check on who has those and how to deal with them.

I've been able to keep up with all the big-pullers, but with the caveat that I will not say anything if they die. I've had all of them apologize when they have died on trash. They know what they did.

The thing that I -think- some tanks are doing is going into the content with their level 60 accessories to DPS instead of the role-specific accessories. I haven't actually looked at any tissue paper tanks gear to verify this, but it seems consistent with the complaints in the other threads.

Playing tank, PLD has one specific "invulnerable for x seconds" move that they can use for big pulls, that's your cue to cast Holy, Regen, asylum and whatever else you can toss on them. After that point, they still have two other mitigation skills along with just straight blocking. So if they use up all of those on a big pull, and you've used Benediction or tetra, then all you have left is cure 2. Thus if they go right for another big pull, you're going to have to let them die.

If you are playing AST, the shielding tends to work for big pullers better. Divine Benison on WHM is kinda... well it's stone skin with an instant cast, single target.

As a tank I feel guilty wiping the entire raid on susano extreme 2 days ago....

During tank swap of stormspliter I provoked and stand beside the other and we both died together totally not knowing stormsplitter is a straight line aoe lolololololol
