    Locked out of Player Housing

For the past two days I have been unable to enter my player housing in the Lavender Beds. Upon each attempt I am greeted with an error message telling me that due to extreme server load I cannot leave the area.

Are the housing servers truly so taxed with the expansion? Are they on the same servers as the dungeon instances or something? It's fairly annoying to be locked out of the home I have spent so much time and effort building.

I suspect that SE lowered the housing instance capacity in order to push the dungeon and solo instance capacity higher, and this may be the direct result. That's just an empty theory, but whatever the reason I'd love to know why I cannot enter my own house. I find it incredibly hard to believe that many players are in their houses at the same time that the housing instances are full.

My guess would be that people who don't want to get kicked out of the game when they afk are going into their rooms or personal houses (so others don't see them and report them) and opening up a craft but never completing it. This used to be a work around for the 30 min auto-kick if you were in a craft or in a cutscene, although I have no personal evidence if this has been fixed. As such there may be hundreds or thousands of additional personal room instances (which I would assume are tied to the housing servers) open than would ever be expected even during peak times.

This might also account for the insane queues.

TLDR: There's a good chance players are screwing other players harder than SE's servers are.

It's very spotty for me to be able to get into my house as well. Super annoying, especially since I just got it and I'm trying to work on it, and it's also my favored spot to craft.

This.... is super assholish but probably true. I didn't even think of this. Ugh. -_-

I had my suspicions but wasn't aware that housing servers were returning error messages. With that piece of evidence, it seems even more likely that this is the case.

It also didn't help that a few days ago there was a reddit post shaming the people who are doing this. All fine and good as they should be shamed but it also had the unintended consequences of informing a slew of other players that this was even a possibility.

This is definitely true. Recently someone was bragging about how he'd been logged on for ten hours while at work by exploiting ways around the AFK kick, and encouraging others to do the same. Unfortunately, he said this on a Facebook group without giving his name, so I couldn't report him. I keep finding AFK people tucked away in little nooks with their crafting up. It's awful when Balmung has a 3-4 hour queue each day.

Yeah and what better nook than a personal room instance. No one's going to go house to house and check through thousands of personal rooms to find people "non"crafting. The ones you see are likely the ones who haven't been lucky enough to get a house and are trying to hide in the overworld.

Ironically by doing this they are bumping the queue up to 3-4 hours each day and then they keep doing it to avoid the 3-4 hour queue that they are creating.

Either way, this is exactly why I left Balmung earlier this week.
