    For your example, it's because Bard's songs don't affect the bard singing it, beyond the repertoire bonus. Battle Voice only affects those with the caster's song buff. Take a look in your upper-left corner -you can clearly see that your party member has the song buff and battle voice, but you have neither, only straight shot. Unfortunately, this means Troubadour works the same way -since you won't have the song buff, you won't get the benefit yourself.

    EDIT: I only got Bard after SB, so I don't know if this 'not getting own song buff' is a departure from how it was pre-SB, or if it's always been like that. Sorry. ^^;;

    Battle Voice requires your song to be registered on the party members to work. It would seem that when the song is used, the effect is applied to us immediately, but it has delays for other party members. Since Battle Voice requires the song effect to be registered on the party member to work on them, using battle voice immediately after the song would cause the system to assume that the party members have not received the song buff yet, causing the buff to not be applied.

    This is the same with sidewinder on enemy target. You would typically wait 1 gcd for the 2nd dot to be applied first before using sidewinder (for safety).

    They actually don't have Battle Voice in this picture as Battle Voice has a separate icon displayed for party members from that of the party crit buff icon. Also the "Battle Voice Missed" text is for the teammate, not myself. A text doesn't display for myself at all since I don't even get the buff.

    This makes more sense to me, but I tested and can confirm that Battle voice can still miss even if I wait till half the song's duration has ended before attempting to use the buff.
