While the animation locks and lag are a pain in the ass, the rest of the QQ is nonsense. Just because his group of bad players can't beat something doesn't mean it's automatically bad design.

When something cannot be handled even by a group of semi-hardcore players, it's bad design. From my perspective, the majority of thread responses have been from people who are much more quicker with their reflexes in these kinds of fights - as well as hardcore players.
What I don't like is the fact that people can't seem to empathize with the problem. If you're going to say such blatant things without actually trying to look at it from my perspective, your skills at debate and discussion are fairly poor.
Now, the point, like I said, is that MMORPGs are supposed to be like "theme parks", like what Yoshi-P said. If it's supposed to be a themepark, is it supposed to upset and anger me this much? Is it? I think a reasonable answer would be "No". Hence why I say it's bad design to have something around this long and even people like me still haven't been able to beat it.
And NO, I have no interest in joining a hardcore/endgame linkshell because quite frankly, Jesus Christ on a Pogostick, I do NOT like the atmosphere.

It can if you keep practicing. I don't have a static group to do Ifrit with, so I haven't won yet either but you don't see me crying here. Very rarely do I get hit by Eruption and the few times I've attempted it with a pick-up group we've got him to as low as ~45%. When everyone can reliably avoid first Eruption, then Radiant Plume, the fight is in the bag.
I haven't played WoW in years but it used to have tons of content harder than Ifrit.
I tried World of Warcraft for two weeks and it was boring; I uninstalled it after that. Reason? Too much rinse & repeat, and more of the same old I've done for the last 5 years. Frankly, here's how I see it: I have a mindset like the game developers over at Valve Software. They playtest their stuff extensively. They then tweak their content based on the feedback.
Example:
If a boss fight or a puzzle proved to be too complex or unintuitive for extended periods of time for the player, they tend to scrap it and/or revise/start over on the design of that particular component.
There is no indication that Square-Enix has done testing of that sort with the Ifrit fight. Which further supports my personal assertion to my friends that Square needs to implement a public test server.
Why? Because the content is too hard for you?
It's beatable, and doesn't require all that much. That says it was tested fairly well and that the server issues, if anything, are the deciding factor in whether a group succeeds or not.
I know it's beatable. The problem during this last run is that we're encountering more technical issues than human issues. We had one player who was on a horrible connection with Comcast (and they have a monopoly in many areas), and that wasn't helping things at all.
I'm a Lancer.
Then it isn't too hard. I don't see what the issue is. Server problems are well known to them and it's currently in the works to get fixed.I know it's beatable. You want the fight to be nerfed NOW because of that?
Now there is one point I fully agree with you on. Back in April I said the same thing
Do they even employ quality assurance testers? Archers punching?? Really? How'd that get the go ahead. Much less a raid completable with 7 lancers and 1 healer. That just screams challenging content and class balance.

My understanding is that casual players get to fight Ifrit on the level 25ish quest. The later Ifrit was not meant for everyone to compLete.
But I do agree re: the class stacking. And while it's not hard coded into the game, one suggestion could be limiting the number of same classes in an instance. I.e. two per class
