I left Balmung some time ago as I needed to distance myself from my old FC, but I still feel like telling people to abandon their whole social network on a server is one hell of a hard deal, even if it resolves all the hardware and software issues a player may face on that server.

So, I think we should definitely encourage players to spread out, but be a little more understanding that it really isn't an easy decision to make.

I have no regrets about leaving Balmung, but that was because my old FC leader went off the deep end over me wishing everyone a Happy Easter (still baffles me to this day why she reacted like that when she was sp funny and chill otherwise), so leaving seemed to be a heathier option.

2) Leaving your FC.
3) Losing your gil.
4) Unable to transfer back to your home server because it's now locked.

It's a server on a video game. Maybe some perspective would be helpful here. Y'all act like you're moving across the country away from your old friends (which, by the way, is a thing that people do all the time).

Because this is an MMO and not a single player game. You tend to meet people that you enjoy playing with.

If I didn't own a house I'd probably consider moving to Zalera, but I don't want to have to try to get another house and least 50% in my house are event items that I would lose. So the money they give you for losing house I don't feel is really worth it.

FYI to anyone considering server transferring; I was on gilgamesh and ended up taking the dev's advice to free xfer to a lower pop server to ameliorate my issues/long queue times. However, since doing so I'm still getting tons of 90006/90002 disconnects and most of the time the game wont let you back in for 5-30 minutes so its really not much of a difference. That and now tonight Coeurl went down for the past 30 min and counting. So take all the people going 'just xfer itll fix everything!' with a huge dash of salt.

Our queues are like 3k+ on weekdays, 5k+ last weekend.
And you think most of us are not working adults with limited time to play?
JUST.SUCK.IT.UP.
You can't have your damn cake and eat it too.

Start the queue the moment you reach home.
Then go have some dinner, watch a movie on your comp, take a shower/bath.
By the time I'm done with it, I see my character standing in Azim Steppe waiting for me.
Or if you live with someone, get them to login for you to start the queue time.
Or leave your computer on and use google remote desktop to login when you're on the way home.

The only problem is for those that got smacked by 90k dc.

So what happens to those servers once the hype dies down?
You really expect SE to dump money in for something that happens only when an expansion hits once every 2 years?
A lot players just finish the story and don't continue their sub till the next patch comes out.
And some don't even sub till the next expansion hits.
No sane company would dump in a significant amount of money to fix a temporary problem.

This is an mmo. The people we play with, speak with, have fun with, are not NPCs. Its not the video game people are upset about, it is the people they have a social connection with. The fact its over the internet might make it easier to part ways compared to someone you live with in real life, sure, but it doesn't mean its easy or meaningless.

Also, I did move across the country away from my friends and family myself, that wasn't an easy decision to make. Neither is leaving Balmung, but my future doesn't rely on me leaving Balmung, so its not as easily justified.

Also SE needs to be taken to task with this launch, this isn't the first launch they screwed up, it's literally every single one so far. We need to let them know we are displeased with this and expect better quality assurance or testing of the servers before launch happens, once or twice is to be expected, but every single launch since 1.0 has been a disaster and they need to be called out on it or it will happen in the future.

1) Transfer with your friends. It isn't hard to organize a group transfer.
2) Same with the above, transfer with the FC. Though perhaps wait a bit since it seems they are setting up a FC transfer system with some more incentives.
3) Under the current promotion, you can take 999,999,999 gil with you.
4) If you're transferring to get away from long queues, why do you want to return to the long queues? If the server has stabilized so that the long queues are gone, transfers will likely be re-opened.
