When Heavensward came out so many people jumped on DRK and AST that DF became overloaded with tanks and healers and for a few days dps had near instant queues. Dps was even Adventurer in Need for a little while. After some time it evened out and returned to normal.

There's no reason to think it would be any different this time around.

Yes there is, because tanks have always been the #1 lacking role in every MMO thats followed the Holy Trinity since...199x.

Half my FC mates are PLDs and WARs. XDDD Make more tank friends and you never have to worry about dps queues again! \o/

Edit: also, I would like to note that we don't lack for tanks in this game. There are plenty, they just avoid queuing with randoms because people are jerks, so they're pretty much done with the drama.

One thing to take from this is that it could get better it's just going to take a while. No you might not see a huge increase in tanks but you also have other things that can influence these numbers.

Some people might get their jobs to 70 and that is the DPS they choose to have, staying there and working on crafting / gathering.

Some might also take time to try out these new tanks, so I know I am guilty of doing tank jobs just for quick roulettes / face roll on dungeons to get my weekly cap. Now I'm going to try to take it a bit more seriously this time around.

Some also moved to these jobs because of the hype + the disappointment from their previous jobs. I wouldn't be surprised if a healer or tank moved to a new role with all these drastic changes. With the possibility to change these jobs through future patches there could easily be a patch that gives some love to the tanks and healers that are showing issues.

This would cause both players who miss their job to jump back, also those who want to be what the rest of the players say is the best will want to play as the best job and go back and level it.

All of these scenarios are very minor I think in terms of numbers, but added up could show some sort of different. I don't think you'll see anything major anytime soon but sometime down the road you will, just like everything else.

Team concluded was that for the first few months there was a spike in tanks, but then it dropped back down later on. There was no significant increase in tanks by adding dark knight. People merely tried the class out, but it was obvious that the role was the issue and not the class. What had happen was that people moved back to their DPS roll. Dark knight was picked up, but only by players who originally tanked in ARR. same issue was with healer.

While this is true, I think they're confusing "temporary problem" with "no problem."

There's a large number of people playing the game following an expansion, more than any other time, and their experience for those several months while people try things out are negatively impacted by the imbalance in roles.

WAR & DRK = OT

.......so really, if you want to tank end game, you have one choice. If you want to be the little ***** that's going around grabbing adds or on stun duty (if that's still around, I'm out of date), you go the other 2.
