PLD or DRK? Which is more fun?

Now that the Role actions are in place I'm going to try crossing over from Healer to Tank.

Paladin and Dark Knight seem the most fun, and I've already ran a few dungeons with DRK, haven't really started on Gladiator yet.

    What's your guys' opinion?

In 3.xx Dark Knight all day.

However, in 4.0 they have gutted the hell out of the class. The huge hero pulls in dungeons have been nerfed big time.

I have not got on my PLD yet and done anything serious but it looks like it is going to be way better.

DRK went through some big changes to bring it into line with other tanks, so there is a salt about it. Additionally, I'm finding that other players in dungeons are jumping on the bandwagon for that - you'll catch more hate if ANYTHING goes wrong, and will sometimes be told you're playing a trash class. Ignore it all. DRK is plenty of fun to play and can do its job just fine. You won't have the burden of changing your playstyle, because you never played the old version. I can't honestly say that Paladin is more or less fun, because I haven't bothered to level it farther than Provoke level - class bored me to tears. Pick whichever one feels right, and try not to listen to people saying one is better than the other.

DRK is dead, probably going to go back to WAR or become a peasant DPS Dragoon again after I beat the story.

Brought into line? We were never the best at anything except magic tanking which we aren't be best at anymore. DRKs lost Shadowskin, Scourge, Low Blow, Reprisal, Dark Dance, Foresight, and bloodbath. Unleash was nerfed Dark passenger and the mana cost for DA+DP is way to high to use in general, BP mana gain is bad now so you can no long DA+AD spam, quietus needs to be an ogcd otherwise you'd rather use bloodspiller.

Darkside got a buff and siphon strike in grit is = to one DA now and bloodspiller is alright i guess TBN is something i guess but if you have an astro in noc i don't see why its worth it to spend resources on.

To the topic if your basing it on fun and not viability on later game content i suggest you run POTD and test our which you like more no one can tell you whats more fun.

because when a noc ast has a drk in his party he could think the same: he has his own shield, why should i spend ressources on him? it's a 20% shield (based on your max HP) with only a 15 sec cooldown, so you can use it on yourself basically for (likely) every single tank buster the boss throws at you. one ss in grit gives you enough mana to activate it. that means you trade one dark arts for a shield, but the shield can give you 50 blood, so it's not even a real dps loss.

Because the astro shield also heals is instant and we could use those resources for dps, or you could just use rampart for the buster and have the ast shield you and continue to dps while the astro does two jobs at once healing and mitigating at the same time while your shield only does one job and the shield only gives back if it breaks.

Just to add as serious astro player to i would rather i use my cd's and skills to heal and protect the tank before the tank has to burn any of his own cds. Also im pretty sure all healers have a shield now.

Er, DRK was one of the fastest dungeon clearing tanks with mass pull ability better than any other tank class. We could literally sulf sustain using AD and BP, no heals required. We lost a lot of stuff, sure. But people are going over the top claiming that the class is gutted. It works fine.

The self sustain is gone, fast dungeon clear is also gone both of those go to paladin, and ill grant you back in HW we were amazing dungeon clearers, but dungeon clearing in HW isn't exactly a feat sorry to say, and yes i have tanked all the content in HW its my opinion that dungeons are the easiest to do in all of HW.
