    I don't like the Ifrit battle: rant warning

    First off let me just say im a tank.

    rant one: spending so much time leveling other classes to be a good tank.
    took a long time to get sac 3 and 2nd wind.

    rant two: the iffrit battle is very unforgiving. if you lag even for a sec and miss Sentinel you have wiped or you will soon.

    rant three: i dont like the fact its more about where you stand and how fast you can move on a laggy as hell server then about stats, enfeebles, and debuffs

    rant four: what the hell is up with shield? you cant even use it because you cant block ifrit. As we all know you cant parry with a shield on.

    rant five: so tired of the 8 man only content. in my linkshell most the time more then 8 show up and sometimes we make 2 parties. thats fine and all but most the time someone always gets left out

    rant six: animation lock

    rant seven: ive equiped more vit and def since 1.19 and it dosent realy do jack he still hits me for the same amount every time.

    rant eight: even if you win you might not get what you came for so start back over and go thru all the bs again.

    i just wish it was more like tactics and less like crisis core
    i like the fact he is hard i just feel its over the top with all the bs and i feel its more like a wow battle then a final fantasy battle
    this content is not fun to me so im not gonna play anymore till a new patch hits
    not that anyone cares

    Agreed. Leveling Disciples of Magic for Cure spells, I can understand, but there are a lot of moves that some jobs learn that make me wonder why they aren't on Gladiator instead. Why does Marauder need Defender and enmity-generating moves when it's not the primary tanking class? Why do Pugilist and Lancer both get healing moves like Second Wind and Speed/Life Surge? Why does Archer get Decoy? Why does Pugilist get Accomplice? All of these seem like tanking moves to me, yet they're learned by jobs that aren't really designed for tanking in the first place...

    Also agreed. I'm glad they at least adjusted the required party sizes for the raids, but I guess they thought that Ifrit would be too difficult with less than 8 people. At least there's no restrictions on the Beastmen camps though - my LS and another LS teamed up one day just so we could get to the NM's at the end. We must've had at least 50 people, lol.

    A million times, this. If SE plans on implementing more action-based fights, then our characters can't be forced to stand still while performing moves. They'll have to do something similar to what they did with bringing out/putting away our weapons.

    Maybe Fire Resistance would help? I can't really help you on that because SE has still kinda left us in the dark on the specifics of what each stat does exactly...

    I just want to say that I know how you feel, as it's frustrating for me as well, especially having not even gotten all the way through the fight. Even more so as a Gladiator due to all the messed up stats like enmity, blocking, and parrying...

    I agree that lag can be a big problem in that fight, seeing how it's very action-based.

    Also agreed. I'm glad they at least adjusted the required party sizes for the raids, but I guess they thought that Ifrit would be too difficult with less than 8 people. At least there's no restrictions on the Beastmen camps though - my LS and another LS teamed up one day just so we could get to the NM's at the end. We must've had at least 50 people, lol.



    A million times, this. If SE plans on implementing more action-based fights, then our characters can't be forced to stand still while performing moves. They'll have to do something similar to what they did with bringing out/putting away our weapons.

    i just said this somewhere else, but you are dead wrong on marauder and pugilist not needing those skills. Getting hate and handling hate are integral parts to making those jobs make sense, and second wind (healing ability) is a keystone of the martial artist/monk archetype not just in FF but in most appearances of martial arts fighters in games/stories.

    i think a lot of you gladiators dont get that you were not, and really should not, be the only class that can tank/have any defensive abilities. Play marauder and pugilist more, and you ll see that having these skills is integral to half of the playstyle they present.

    Glad specialty is one on one damage mitigating tanking, with a focus on using a shield, the problem is they currently screwed up your shield play.

    mrd is a dmg/tank brute like charachter, focused on multiple monster tanking while doing dmg

    pug is single target dps/tank focused on evasion, debilitation and distraction as well as hp recovery rather than damage mitigation.


    now when you as an overall tank want to incorporate some of these tanking styles into your own, then it makes sense you should have to level those jobs (or study those type of playstyles)

    like getting warmonger from the aoe tank class, or getting the enmityless distraction skill of taunt, or getting the mind over body self healing power of a martial artist
