I just xfered to Balmung awhile ago..from Mateus( really wish i didn't ).
But you have to keep in mind the major downside to lower pop servers such as Mateus, as a dps, had HORRENDOUSLY LONG INSTANCE Q TIMES.
So i can see why, one would not want to Xfer off of such an OP server.

Instance queue time isn't a server specific problem, because the DF match you with players of the whole datacenter, not just from the same server.

It ain't just Balmung anymore. It's hit Odin too. And apparently Omega (the new server) has been hit with 6 hour queues too. I wonder how Louisoix will fare.

I have read that it is a bug with fresh transfered characters.
Logout of the game and wait a bit before login again fixed it for some.

Do you get the same bonuses if you transfer and if you just create a new character on one of the low pop servers? All I got from a new character is bonus EXP gain.

World population does not collaborate whatsoever to your queue; the queue is based off of your data center. What you're experiencing, actually, is a lack of tanks and healers.

No moving of servers will fix that. However, moving servers fixes is the fact that you can play on a server that won't crash or lag because of requiring x instances to be reserved. Balmung and Gilgamesh are on the same data center. So that's why we were having so many problems and bottlenecking in the first place.

Really, the only thing transferring servers is the queues in line to get on the server, as well as the massive problems of going into duty events. Your duty finder queue is not at all based on that, other than possibly having a smaller pool of people to pick from in the data center.

I haven't had to wait more than 35 minutes as a DPS. When I queue as AST I get in instantly.

If you're in the Aether center, we're all screwed. Balmung moreso. 6k qs and then we turn around trying to do DFs as a DPS. After this is all blown over, the DPS Q times will be the biggest problem. Get your Doctor Who, TWD, GOT, and other series ready for FATE and POTD brain dead run fests kappa.

No issue here on omega tbh. I always got in fairly fast.

I dunno. 23 player login Queue just now for me.
Then 30 second wait for Trial Roulette. *shrug*

Returning from work to play SB. Wait 3-4hours log in queue then another 30-40mins for a dungeon as a DPS. This is so wrong.
The only time you can log in with small to none queue is during the morning.
SE needs to improve this.
If you want more players and more subs you better be well prepared to actually offer a service to them.

I play on Siren, most of the time there's no queue to get in at all and we share a PF with Gilga and Balmong now so there's essentially no downside
