I dislike the twins burn them with fire!!!

I have to wonder what the writers were thinking when they decided to write out Yda and Papalymo. I mean it's not a whole lot different then how they wrote out Y'shtola version 1 and Thancred version 1. Thancred feels like a total grumpypuss compared to V1.
You also know that Thancred is vital to the V1 story connection, so they can't write him out without resolving all the V1 hanging threads (which is basically what happened at the end of V3.x with the Warriors of Darkness) and Y'shtola can't be written out for any reason since she's the game's mascot/cross-over character.
In some respects the way characters getting killed off/written out feels familiar to FFIV, where you get new party members only for them to be left behind. Y'shtola pulled a Rydia(Heroic sacrifice only to show up again looking different,) and Thancred pulled a Yang (brainwashed in one act, heroic sacrifice in another act, only to be rescued by the beast people)
Like, it's fine, from a story POV, that the V1 characters at least get some kind of storyline closure, but it feels more like Papalymo was written out for absolutely no reason other than to detach him from Yda, and then reveal that Yda's been dead since before V1. Like there was no telegraphing this through the V2.x storyline that i can think of.
For all intents the Thancred/F'lhaminn/Minfilia(Ascilia) storyline is complete.
For Alphinaud and Alisaie , they also didn't show any telegraphing the direction of Alisaie, given that her 2.x role was the Coil of Bahamut, which was a separate storyline, much like the storyline's for Alexander and the 24-man raid's storylines have their own storyline characters that you never see again after.
Alphinaud and Tataru were pretty much your only storyline companions for V3.x up until the end. Like even Pipin shows up exactly once during 2.x to push us to the 3.x storyline, and then disappears until the end of 3.x to again push us towards the V4 content.
At this point I'm almost expecting a Palom and Porom heroic sacrifice of Alphinaud and Alisaie at some point, since it seems like the writers are fond of referencing previous games.
Honestly, I don't think Tataru will ever be removed from the game as they stated back in 2.X that Tataru importance to the Scions is being their finacial manager thus she is the one who manage the bills and pay all the taxes required to maintain the Scion's operations and base.
Alphinaud is still young and lacks the longer term world experience most people have already thus his constant mistakes. However, he is still the most skilled diplomat the Scions have right now ever since Minfillia left the world which the Scion need to deal with political parts of their operations since everyone else only know how to solve a issue by beating it to the ground with brute force.
Oh my, you might be just too right. I love Alisaie and kinda like Alphinaud, but a sacrifice à la Palom and Porom would be epic to witness!
I agree I was upset to learn the truth that Yda had died as I always stated to my BF in every cutscene that Yda in 2.0 never felt right compared to 1.0 Yda I always knew something was off with her character /RIP Palpy & Yda you will be missed.
Give me Minphilia back!

Man. Don't kill Alphanerd off. He's had the most character development.

I love little Alphi, I don't really care for his sister.
He's come a long way and I especially enjoyed his part in the most recent patch.
I was like DANNNNG he just told her to shut up and do as she's told. He grew a pair!!!
