Actully FFXI has been losing players rapidly since FFXIV release announcement. Fenrir went from 1800 people on a night down to an average of 800. It was holding at around 400,000 subs the Christmas prior to the announcement of FFXIV followed by a server merge, now a 2nd server merge. So FFXI is actually dying as fast if not faster then XIV atm.

I seen alot of people quit Aion at the server merges. Several legion I knew went back to WoW at that point, and 5-6 people who where in my linkshells on XI came back from WoW. Might of not been the majority but alot did quit just because of that.

Did you just make up a magical number? Or are you basing this on published records. Ive been curious about an accurate count of the server population. I wish they hadn't taken out the search function. It was nice to get a gauge of how populated things were. Ive been looking around for accurate data lately myself.

True, it proves that having access to "millions" of players doesn't mean your going to get to see more action. Worst of all, the cross server party system was the final nail in the coffin of that community. Worst MMO communityPERIOD

Where did you get these numbers? Are they still available by any chance? It conflicts with what I had read a while back...
I read 112k global subscriptions about 6 months ago, and that was a released from SE in an interview.

The peak for the game was 1.2m subscriptions, and that was Toah with average daily activity at around 200k-300k(top end being weekends), also from data released by SE back in 2006. The closest match I could dig up was from Wikipedia, fortunately it was properly cited, so verifiable.

I just wish SE would be a little more upfront over their numbers, it seems like they try so hard to be completely vague and discrete about just about everything from subscriptions to game mechanics. It leads to so much misinformation and second guessing.
