As to why you "deserved" it... sorry if this sounds harsh, but you chose to play on the most overpopulated server of all servers. There's a certain amount of "problem" expectation that comes with that. Any problem that occurs is going to be 10x worse.

As for one thing that helped alleviate it somewhat, people lined up and didn't spam the NPC on the JP servers. Someone said they tried that on Balmung, but then it went back to chaos after people got impatient.

All the spam from hundreds or even thousands of players all spamming one NPC just makes it worse.

I chose gilgamesh before it became gigantic. Do I deserve it?

Odin still gets busy and that is EU. In the evening it can take 3 hours just to log in, and the MSQ gate happens again. So not fixed as such, just depends on when the servers are less busy.

No one can deny that putting a bottleneck early on and gating basically the entire expansion behind it is poor design. It still will take some time for either congestion to die down a bit or for Squeenix to have some sort of workaround in place (be it a backup server or some other fix). I'm just leveling the new classes and trying to scrounge up enough money to buy a house now that I'm on a server that isn't overpopulated, hopefully something will go up today or tomorrow and the main story will be ready for the bulk of us stuck.

You're wrong. Primal and Aether DC are having the same problems. This has nothing to do with the population on those two. This is a problem across all NA DC's and only NA DC's at this time. 90k's are running a rampage on other DF content as well.

Again, they wont address this cause it isn't affecting JP servers. If it were it be fixed by now.

Been seeing PF's going up from Jenova trying to get more people doing this.

I mean, by now everyone should know the problem is just too many people trying to get into the same thing. Seems reasonable that the quickest solution is to not all keep spamming to get into said thing.

The lining up solution only works if everyone across the data center does it. If it's just one server, it's not going to help.

That you chose to stay? Yeah. You even have the opportunity to move for free now. If you don't move, that's your choice to stay on a server that you know is the most overcrowded one.
