I also think the chance to only call forth Ifrit or what ever primal is kinda lame.
But I do like the idea of calling him being super powerful and the whole server knowing he has been called out.

Maybe if they take that idea along with being able to summon a mini Ifrit of some kind? That ability would be used by a SMN class. I think that would be neat.

They already said that they were going to use smaller summons like Carbuncle for Summoner and that Ifrit/Garuda/etc. were going to be used exclusively for free-companies since they want them to be worshiped as the god's they intend them to be. This is when we will likely see a comeback of the older summons that never usually made it beyond one or two titles, like Siren/Lakshmi/Most of the FFXI server names/etc.
