Carnero...
I had a friend who traveled with two others to farm. They saw Carnero. One of the members decided to say that they should take it on because it was level 16, and they were 6, 8, and 6 and it equaled 20!!!!
Needless to say, they died.

C'est Vie ou Mort!
So you're going to that? Lucky you! That link from Distant Words II just reminded me about this:

On November 11th, there will a be a FFXI concert performed by the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra during the event. I will finally get to hear an orchestrated version of a FFXI song not named Ronfaure. lol
It looks like they're going to be streaming it through Niconico Douga as well. It costs 1500 yen to watch, though. Maybe I'll just wait and hope for a CD.
As for an orchestrated version of an XI song other than Ronfaure, I'm guessing this doesn't count, but...
=( This is something XIV no matter how epic 2.0 is will never recreate. For those of us that started early it will always have that lingering bad taste that we got in 2010. I have a feeling 2.0 will be more about Dungeon Finders, DPS meters, and PvP balance to ever have the same feeling.
Nope, I'm not going =/. Would love to, but it's impossible...So you're going to that? Lucky you!

The performance will surely pop up on youtube sooner or later, anyways. =P
Whoops, sorry! I just kind of jumped to conclusions.
That's a good point about it showing up on You Tube. I wouldn't be surprised if SE made You Tube take it down, though, considering they're going to charge for the "official" version over at Nico Nico Douga. We can hope, though!
I believe that if FFXIV was perfect in every way at release, it still would not be able to recreate the feelings many of us had in the early days of FFXI. For many of us, it was our first experience with an MMO, exploring a grand, new world as a noob, making rookie mistakes and forging memories that will last a lifetime. Only one MMO can hold that place in one's heart.=( This is something XIV no matter how epic 2.0 is will never recreate. For those of us that started early it will always have that lingering bad taste that we got in 2010. I have a feeling 2.0 will be more about Dungeon Finders, DPS meters, and PvP balance to ever have the same feeling.
My mistake coming into FFXIV was the desire to relive those days. But alas, those days are gone and cannot be relived or replaced. Why do I believe this? Well, mainly because FFXI was far from perfect. It had plenty about it to hate. Every level down was often accompanied by a slew of swears. Frustrations over world NM competitions or battles that you just can't quite complete were many. But we loved it. We couldn't help but love it. No other MMO will ever be able to take it's place in our hearts. I think that's why so many were disillusioned with FFXIV when it was first released, and why I believe many would have been disillusioned no matter what state it was in.
1/17.... Back when I started there was always 5-6 guys camping this little fella.
What I miss most about Bastok aside from the music is when I used to fish by the AH. For some reason the FFXI cities have a much better feeling than the current FFXIV cities. Grid, Ul'dah and LL are beautiful cities, but they feel shallow.
This is true....=( This is something XIV no matter how epic 2.0 is will never recreate. For those of us that started early it will always have that lingering bad taste that we got in 2010. I constantly find myself looking for the enjoyment I had with FFXI, I felt it with XIV in the beginning to be quite honest, but I think it was the people... because there were more of them. Even so the feeling wasn't exactly the same.
