Is anyone else worried that Yoshi P won't finish Final Fantasy XIV?

Well, if he gears up sufficiently and get's through the final MSQ Trial, I'm sure he can make it. But that min ilvl is a pain in the butt to reach if you are a game producer/director and have no time to raid.

I guess we could make a premade party for him and help him skip the ilvl check and get through. He is the game producer/director after all, we kinda owe him.

I don't recall him saying 9 expansions............but I do recall saying that he wanted it for 10 years. We are at year 4. My guess is that expac 6 will be the last with ff17 or ff18 being a MMO

Depends on if it retains a healthy playerbase. If it starts to dwindle, they'll write a finale expansion just like was done with FFXI, and keep it maintained and tweak it here and there.

If Runescape is still alive, then I really don't think we need to worry for a while.

Finish? MMOs don't get finished. Eventually they are abandoned by players and developers, but not finished.
While Yoshi-P has done much good for FFXIV I am sure there exist other people who can take over should he leave FFXIV for whatever reason.

Well FFXI was finished with the Rhapsody of Vana'diel being the finale to FFXI storyline.

Then in FFXIV we got the Epilogue of FFXI as Maiden's Rhapsody.

I'm not worried. Based on Yoshi-P's apparent lack of desire to significantly change up XIV's oft-bland content cycles, I'd actually be excited about the game being placed under a new director. I don't think he's done a bad job, per se, but I think his usefulness is a year or two away from ending, tops, unless he discovers the ability to think outside the box and be ambitious.

Gamer Escape: We’ve been dealing with the Ascians for a long time now… are we ever going to get an ending to that story arc? Or is that the story of Final Fantasy XIV that will maybe conclude with an end of service?

Yoshida: We haven’t actually clearly decided on how we’ll bring a resolution to the Ascian arc. I don’t think we need to hold it until the end of service however. Having the arc for them end and finding out about Zodiark or the secret behind Hydaelyn or who the Warrior of Light actually is… even if we did reveal all that and have closure, it’s still not the end of the story. We can always make more expansions, maybe we’ll go to Vana’diel or something like that- “Return to Vana’diel” (laughs)

So it lookes like Yoshi wants to keep going and going..............which even exceeds my expectations.

There's no tellin' how long FFXIV is gonna last so I say don't worry and just enjoy it while it's alive and well.

i'd consider the game done after we deal with Varis and Zodiark. anything after that is a bonus.

I believe he has come out and said there will be a total of 9 expansions!! If he keeps up this pace thats another 18 years!

Husband & Me: Guess we'll be playing FFXIV for the next 18 years. Not worried.
