Who will make a character? (Let's build up the community)

Was really excited to see the new server being released (I will admit, i'm definitely one of those crazy people who will participate in the Mad Housing Dash), but I am a little hesitant since it's EU, and i've never played on EU before (I'm in NA). What kind of difference is there? I'm worried that the time difference will mean that i'll never be able to find groups or a FC with people on at the same time as me =(

I had the opposite, playing NA while being in EU and it was rough being the only one on at times in a small FC. That being said, I'm moving my character over for the perks and the chance to be on an EU server with some RL friends and some of my NA friends are joining too. So depending on what you are looking for in an FC, you can always look me up in game and find a few NA players to hang out with in our FC. ^_^

I am really considering transferring over, but will be making a new character either way. The way I see it, there is no real downside to just trying it. Sure it'll slow down my expansion mad dash... but oh well. I am a filthy casual anyway!

I've been playing ARR for the past month on Aether>Midgardsomr with friends but would prefer the usually friendlier EU community and Omega is a great chance to be on the same playing level as others while getting some bonuses.

Though it depends whether GMG will send the HS & SB keys early because I definitely want to make an Au Ra character. So I might be a little late to the party.

I was hoping to stick with WHM as I was really enjoy playing healer in duties, but I hear WHM got shafted in the "combat changes" so might be looking at Astrologian might to keep healing in 4.0

Friendlier EU community? To me the NA community seems to be more friendly haha Well i am glad you had that experience though.


There are a few things that keep me from moving:

- Losing all the friends/ppl that i have known for years now
- What happens if ppl on Omega leave/stop playing after they hit lvl 30
- I heard that Omega is going to be THE european RP server
- Do i want my house in an empty ward?
- LANGUAGE! Even though i am german i hate to see german (and all the other european languages + russian) in the chat. What if they refuse to speak english?
- Empty market board and maybe horrible prices for possibly month

The only good thing i see so far is getting rid of the constant 30% paket loss that appeared after the NA server move.

I really don't know what to do. While this is THE chance to move to a better ping without losing house/money there are still so many con's on the other side :/

That's not true. At least Yoshida wont designate offical RP servers yet.

Sure. More chance you get a house.

Don't worry. Those are the french. Most speak english here.

If you dont want to transfer, just make a character here. A new one. It won't hurt.

That is certainly a good reason not to move. Unless you can persuade them too to move of course.

Some people will probably do that, but not everybody. As time passes it will become just another server.

That is the plan, yes - alternative RP servers are needed since Balmung is closed, and the new world seemed like a good option. Unofficial EU RP server of course, since there are no official RP servers.
If that is a good thing or bad thing is a matter of opinion of course.

I think it won't take long before most houses are bought - just like on other servers

Then there will be communication problems. Having played on another EU server (Zodiark) I have never ran into that problem in any DF duty, but it is a possibility. Just be careful with checking which languages to use to minimze the risk.

Empty market board is great for sellers. Not so great for buyers. It will indeed take a while for prices to stabilize.

I'm feeling like the furniture market is going to be insane for a while, so many new houses and Shirogane in like... a month?

I'm actually a bit hesitant though - lots of chance for fresh personal housing, but all FCs will be new and need to hit rank 6, and I'm already dreading having to unlock all my gosh darn airship sectors again, it's going to be... interesting.

Gah, I'm on the fence. I'm a Swede on Balmung and I like it. Good people all around, but it would be nice to be on a server where I can actually tell a friend to make a character and join. I hate being a libra sometimes...

All that said, if someone doesn't make an FC or LS named "Phule's Company" on Omega I will be extremely disappointed in humanity. (And if you got that without looking it up, you're the real MVP)
