I've long since given up on the whole 'collect all of X' aspect of FFXIV. SE has just been too shitty about it in order to extract more money from people (event items not obtainable after the fact without paying extra; Mog Station exclusives; Collector's Edition exclusives; Veteran Rewards; etc.).

If it were just one or maybe two of those things (say, Mog Station and Collector's Editions), I could sort of "wall off" those items into a separate category and not worry about them. As-is, though, I feel like I'm having to put so many asterisks on my collection, I just don't care to bother at all.

In short - SE can do whatever they want with the Veteran's Reward system, so far as I'm concerned. I sub when I want to sub, and unsub when I get bored. There is absolutely nothing they can do item-wise to influence my decisions, because they've abused the item manipulation so thoroughly already.

This poster is spot on. The colleciton in FF XIV is ABSURB in size and potential exculsivity (depending on entry point) that being bothered about the potential to miss items like this loses all impact.

All mmo's are like that, you have to dedicate a immense amount of time and money to have everything and yeah, you don't need everything. This is the kind of achievement that appears years later in game websites like the guy who got all the achievements in world of warcraft or the guy that were able to reach lvl 999 in tibia. It's not for everyone
